In MAHA2024, only 80 people fished with us over the 10-day event.
I am delighted to report that after the third day in MAHA 2026, 100 Fishing Licenses have been given out, and that’s 100 people fishing with us.
Over the last six years, we have taken the Passport to Fishing kit around Malaysia, sharing with both adult and kids about the importance of conservation in our sport, and for the environment. When we started, many in Malaysia were intrigued by the concept of Bag, Season and Size limits as they have not heard it before.
For MAHA2026, I decided to introduce the Fishing License/Permit concept for our segment on the MAEPS Lake at the Fisheries Showground (District 2). I was very worried if it would be a concept that would receive backlash.
Thankfully, it was received positively, and many were happy to comply to the regulations, which is set in a basic, easy to understand concept covering angling ethics and environmental stewardship.
This tells us, that the anglers today are much more inclined to do things right, and that itself is a huge and positive change in the Malaysian angling industry compared to where things were ten years ago.
I would like to take this moment to thank all of you that braved the heat, the traffic, the haze and the lines, carrying all your gears to get to District 2, Laman Perikanan, MAEPS Lake, to fish with us.
I appreciate all of you and I am humbled by how much you too, love our sport and are willing to do this right.
Seven more days to go! Come down to our booth and get your fishing licence to fish with us in MAHA 2026!
