🌏 STANDOUT IN SOUTHEAST ASIA! 🏆✨

Amongst the numerous sustainable initiatives across our Southeast Asian nations, including Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Brunei, The Ranee of Sarawak (Malaysia) is deeply honoured to bring home the Silver Responsible Tourism Award for Southeast Asia 2026 (Local Economic Benefit Category) for our Rural Community Craft Development Project (RCCDP)! 🏆

This recognition was presented during the International Conference on Responsible Tourism and Hospitality (ICRTH 2026) in Miri, Sarawak. The awards are organised by the International Centre for Responsible Tourism - Southeast Asia (ICRT-SEA) in collaboration with Responsible Borneo (REBORN), and officially endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak as part of the RTA-SEA 2026 program.

It fuels our passion to keep growing, innovating, and reaching even greater heights together with our incredible artisan partners. This achievement reflects the intricate skills, commitment, and hard work of our rural artisan partners and women weavers.

Every piece we create is a bridge between timeless Bornean heritage and contemporary designs. Beyond aesthetics, our mission has always been about driving sustainable local economic impact, ensuring fair livelihoods, empowering rural women, and keeping traditional craft economies thriving.

This award belongs to each one of our artisans who pour their heart into handmade work, and whose craft keeps ancient traditions alive and continue to inspire future generations. Together we have a shared vision. Thank you for walking this journey with us since 2016! ✨

Dressing for the Grandest Stage✨

To mark this momentous evening at the prestigious Sarawak State Dinner 2026, The Ranee of Sarawak is proud to unveil a masterwork of heritage-driven contemporary design. This custom modern blazer reinterprets a cultural symbol, the Lelanjang Bungai Nuing Pua Kumbu motif into a sharp, contemporary silhouette.

This exclusive look was conceptualised by Joyceline Ritha (UNIMAS Design Technology alumna), under the visionary direction and precision mentorship of the Director, Datin Rosemarie Wong.

The heart of this design lies in the striking Lelanjang Bungai Nuing. Traditionally hand-woven into Pua Kumbu textiles for grand celebratory festivals like Gawai Besai, this specific motif was chosen to honour the stature of the evening.

To bring this rich heritage into contemporary fashion design, The Ranee of Sarawak meticulously mapped the motif across a custom modern blazer. The powerful pattern is beautifully balanced by a deep navy blue satin lapel, matching flap pockets, and a custom, double-layered Lelanjang Bungai Nuing bowtie.

This creation perfectly captures our core philosophy. The Ranee of Sarawak is incredibly proud to see our custom design talent showcased at such a prestigious state event.

THE BEJALAI COLLECTION
Sustainably Woven. Community Powered. Inherently Luxurious.

The Bejalai Collection is a luxury narrative that unites two brands — the visionary aesthetics of The Ranee with the handcrafted mastery of .

The Bejalai Collection adopts the Ishidatami pattern with a sustainable modern material known as Eco Craft エコクラフト ( E-ko Ku-ra-fu-to) a material traditionally used for tying parcels, and can be made of recycled paper pulp.

The Ishidatami (石畳) pattern is a traditional Japanese design that translates to “stone paving”, and is primarily associated with the Ichimatsu (checkerboard) pattern and because the design continues uninterrupted from side to side, it powerfully symbolizes eternity, prosperity, and continuous success.

Handwoven by women artisans of Sarawak, the Bejalai bags are handstitched with luxe calfskin straps and robust leather pocket, removable suede pouch and key clip, ensuring that essentials are organized and protected.

The highlight of the bag is a leather marquetry bag charm, made from zero-waste leather precisely cut and meticulously hand assembled to create the “Bungai Terung” pattern — this Sarawak tattoo design was traditionally hand tapped onto the shoulders of young Iban men as they prepare to journey in life.

The Bejalai Collection is the perfect pièce de résistance for enhancing a dreamy summer wardrobe, and embraces a story of collaborative empowerment, cultural heritage, and the living traditions of a community.
