It’s today!!!

Leslie Shaw, is a 70 year young self-taught manek-artist and the father of Kalachakra Manek(2)

He is an active member of the Persatuan Peranakan Cina Melaka association where he learnt the art of beadwork. His lovely wise May Ling and him have always been supportive of this marketplace and we are so glad to have them be part of The Peranakan Exchange.

(Aunty or Achi or Nyonya) Dhanam & Valli, from the Chetti Melaka Community, traditional and rare Chetti delicacies, promote Chetti culture through cooking, contributed recipes for cook books (Aunty Dhanam that is). Both cater for community events are also heritage dancers of the community.

At Aunty Dhanam’s booth, you will find Kesui, Bubur Kacang Hijab, Karipap, and Gading Galo. You will also find their Urap Kulit Timun and Sambal Timun Chilli in the pre-order Laok Paok Set Meals.

Also they’re known for one thing: putting quality and customer happiness above everything else.

Lontong is a dish of Javanese origins, with its main ingredient being a compressed rice cake, similar to ketupat. In Indonesia, its assimilation into peranakan culture began in when early chinese male immigrants married java local women, and this culinary dish was adopted into the lunary new year celebrations, and the dish was celebrated as a chap goh meh lontong dish.

Bite of Life comprises Amal & Farid. Born from a simple dream to create a place where delicious food brings people together and creates lasting memories.

Introducing Karen Koh of Karenbucha, a budding entrepreneur, this ex-air stewardess has come back to Melaka to settle back here from Hong Kong and is trying new things through her home-made kombuchas named Karenbucha . Together with her husband, she is starting her Karencare enterprise with healthy probiotic kombuchas , yoghurts, and other sweet but healthy treats.

A new comer to marketplaces, this is her second pop-up with us. Karen is experimenting with Cendol toppings in her yoghurts, bunga telang infused into her kombuchas, ( with local fruit flavours like sour plum and calamansi , lychee and soursop ) and she is also serving bubur cha cha this round.
