The 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 (𝗔𝗡𝗣) is a community-based initiative that addresses 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻-𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 through research, education, and advocacy.

ANP was founded in Malaysia in 2014 in response to public outcry about the lack of sustainable solutions for human-wildlife conflicts. It aims to promote a more informed and compassionate approach to 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻-𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

In this talk, ANP will explore how human presence and everyday activities can shape the behaviour of urban 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀. They will also look at how macaques respond to people and their surroundings, and how changing our own behaviour could be part of the solution to living alongside urban wildlife.

Notes:
There is a registration fee of RM10 per pax (until 17 Oct 2026 7pm). Walk-in fee will be RM15. Participants will also get a RM10 book voucher and a F&B discount voucher (T&C applies).

The 𝗗𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 is one of the most beautiful and mysterious carnivores native to Peninsular Malaysia. Their very elusive behaviour made them difficult creatures to be studied in our rainforest environment.

Superficially resembling the Dhole is one of the most ancient breeds of domestic dog unique to this part of Southeast Asia, the 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗮𝗻.

In actual fact, the Telomian and the Dhole are two entirely different canid species, but both remain poorly known to Malaysian at large.

In this talk, the Lim Tze Tshen will share some of the intriguing stories of both of these canids from prehistoric to modern times in Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo, as revealed through rare and historical museum specimens.

Check out our October 2026 calendar of events and remember to sign up for our inhouse talks.

We will be at the Klang River Retrospective event this weekend, 3 & 4 Oct. The exhibition started on 25 Sep and will go on until 4 Oct. For the past three years, Klang River Festival (KRF) x Sunda Shelves have brought together various people to explore the histories, landscapes and stories of the Klang River and the end result is an exhibition centred on a large map of locations explored through the series. Join us for a series of short talks and guided walkthroughs of the exhibition!

Next, we sniff out the answers about an ancient breed of Southeast Asian dog and a forest canine with Lim Tze Tshen on 10 Oct 3pm at Sunda Shelves.

From 12-15 Oct, we will have a booth at the Global Tipping Points Conference at Sunway University – come and support us if you are in the area.

On 17 Oct starting from 2pm onwards, we dig deeper into our rivers and roads as part of the KRF2026 event but at our bookshop. There will be a series of three talks by Teckwyn Lim & Peter Leong, William Tham & Lam Seng Fatt with Jesse Oslow Norton as the moderator.

The following day on 18 Oct 3pm, Uvakumar Mosiz of Animal Neighbours Project will talk about how we can live in harmony with urban long-tailed macaques.

Lastly, we have tree lover and now nature influencer, Akmal Idham share about his love of figs or ficus on 31 Oct 3pm.
