The Fashion industry is one of the largest polluters in the world. Almost 20% of global industrial water pollution comes from the treatment and dying of textiles and is second only to agriculture as the biggest polluter of clean water globally.

โ ๏ธ Fashionโs pollution problem needs our attention โ ๏ธ
In our zine issue 3, Fashion Environment Change, wrote, โIn one seasonโs wardrobe clear out, each Briton throws seven items of clothing in the trash, on averageโฆ Not only do we waste precious natural resources and energy in creating the textiles, but decomposing fabrics release methane, a harmful greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. Chemicals and dyes from clothes also contaminate soils and waters. Polyester alone takes up to 200 years to biodegrade.โ
โBrands must minimise waste generation at each step of the design and production process. Governments should put in place strong policies that address pre- and post-consumer
waste, and make donating and recycling textiles more convenient โ if not compulsory.โ
Letโs use our voices, write to our policy makers (๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐๐พโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธask them about Extended Producer Responsibly ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐ฟโโ๏ธ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ) and remember that .
