Psst.... Yeah, you. Got a friend with a bright idea of renting used books? Tell him to front it. Got money? Convince friends to be investors. So, now you have friends with books in a place fronted by the smart-aleck convincing the rest to invest money and time to make a roaring success leading to a franchise a
nd worldwide recognition and fame! That, in essence, was the business plan behind Storimori Book Club, coupled with red hot passion for reading... there you have it! Six of us 70's children agreed to pour our life-savings into this outlandish scheme of getting people interested in reading used books. The easy part was building the book cabinets, sourced from the local hypermarket before CNY. And yeah, having all six investors contributing books from their own collections was relatively easy-peasy too. Though it’s hard to part with these life-long possessions of ours, we want you to enjoy these books too! The hard part was figuring which activities to NOT put into Storimori's fortnightly calendar (we're open generally every day, except for toilet breaks). Cupcake fights is out, as so is domino stacking. Painting a peacock didn't sound exciting enough (have you tried getting a man to name every single shade of red or green?) but maybe kids will beat you to it. So, we thought of stuff that involves books like book reading with and for kids, book review session for adults, artsy-fartsy craft lessons (no World of Warcraft or witchcraft, sorry), English lesson tuitions and the like. Books are perfect for all occasion. We sell and rent only the most thoughtful, meaningful and useful books. Come over and check-out our book hampers. These are carefully crafted, with limited edition books sometimes, a few meaningful items to mark the occasion... and there you go, a perfect hamper with lovely books and goodies. Money wise? Naturally, we had to have some income to pay for peanuts issued to each investor every quarter. These come in the form of membership fees. For the first year of operation, our special membership fee is only RM30 for every six months. Members can rent a book for only RM3. There are cozy lounge and sofas for you to read quietly, not to mention a soothing view of the swimming pool waterfall. But in all seriousness, Storimori is a place where books are close to our hearts. We had our wonderful moments reading those books, and we want you to feel the same way too... and to talk to us about your own experience reading those wonderful stories.
