Formerly known as MyBricks2u.com (with only one desk and next to no free time, our brand was born), DeToyz expanded its offerings beyond LEGO, to include toys, plastic model kits and hobby tools as well. Today, we offers a wide selection of toys such as LEGO sets, LEGO Technic, Tomica die-cast cars, Takara Tomy Beyblade as well as Gundam and Star Wars plastic model kits from Bandai. We also carry a wide range of hobby tools from brands such as Mr. Hobby, Tamiya, Gaia, U-Star for beginners and enthusiasts alike. All products we sell are 100% original. As DeToyz continues to serve its loyal community in Seremban and the rest of Malaysia, it has expanded its customer base to include countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Germany, Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States. AE86 Issues 83–91 completed — the body is really taking shape now.

The right door from Issues 83–86 was actually assembled earlier, so this video starts with fitting it to the body frame rather than showing the full door build again.

Issue 87 installs the windshield. This is one of those steps where I really slowed down — the windshield needs to flex slightly to slot into place, so I was very careful not to crack it.

Issues 88–89 then build up the roof interior with the headlining, assist grip, centre pillar garnishes, rear-view mirror, sun visors and interior light. The LED wire runs down the left centre pillar and is hidden neatly behind the garnish.

Issues 90–91 complete the left and right quarter windows.

No major problems in this stage, but with so much of the painted body now being handled, I was extra careful not to scratch anything. Whenever I needed to work with the body upside down, I rested it on a cloth over the cutting mat before tightening the screws.

Day 40 · Issues 83–91 completed.

AE86 Issue 82 completed — finally got my hands on the body frame.
And yes… it’s huge. 😅

But the body itself wasn’t really my main focus today.

After fitting the left and right front pillar garnishes and the door-lock pin strikers, I spent most of the session checking the left door mechanism carefully.

I wanted to make sure the door was properly secured on the hinge, didn’t sag or feel loose when opened, and could reach the fully open position with a clean click.

When closing it, the door lock should also engage smoothly with a gentle push rather than needing excessive force.

I also tested the door with the window lowered to make sure the glass stayed firmly in place without shaking while opening, closing or moving the door.

So far, everything feels just right.

AE86 Issues 79–81 completed — body assembly has officially started.
The left front door is the first major body section I’ve worked on.

Issue 79 completes the door lock mechanism by fitting the lock parts to the inner panel.

Issue 80 adds the door hinge and window regulator.

Issue 81 brings the door together with the trim and glass. Before closing everything up, I tested the window mechanism to make sure the glass could move up and down properly using the handle.

The mechanism works, and I have to say — it’s really cool. 😁

The completed door looks surprisingly realistic too.

No major issues during the assembly this time.

For the next stage, I’m going to change the sequence slightly. Instead of moving straight into Issue 82, I’ll assemble the right front door from Issues 83–86 first, then come back and attach both doors to the body.

AE86 Issues 77–78 completed — interior finally meets the chassis.

Issue 77 was supposed to replace the circuit board installed earlier in Issue 44 with a revised version. In my set, however, the circuit board installed earlier was already the updated version, and no replacement board was included with Issue 77.
So for this stage, I simply kept the tray panel and moved on to Issue 78.

Issue 78 is the important one — the completed interior is finally fitted onto the chassis.
The steering shaft from the interior also has to connect correctly with the steering mechanism assembled earlier. This alignment is critical because the steering wheel and front wheels should work together once everything is fitted properly.

Mine is working — I can now steer the front wheels using the steering wheel — although I still need to fine-tune the alignment a little.

Day 37 · Issues 77–78 completed.

And after this… I finally get to start working on the AE86 body. 😁

AE86 Issues 72–76 completed — rear interior trim taking shape.
These five issues mainly focus on the quarter trims and deck trim around the rear of the interior.

Issues 72–73 assemble the passenger seat belts and fit them to the left and right quarter trims.
Issues 74–75 build the left and right deck trims before fitting them around the rear interior.
Finally, Issue 76 adds the rear deck trim cover and completes this section.

Nothing particularly tricky in this stage — just a steady sequence of interior parts gradually filling in the rear cabin.

A little AE86 project for Merdeka. 🇲🇾

This 1/24 Aoshima AE86 was built back in 2015 — already 11 years old.

Gave it a clean, measured the roof, designed a Jalur Gemilang graphic and had it printed as a sticker.
Of course, the print came back about 5% smaller than my original artwork 😡… but thankfully it still worked. 😅
