Membaca membuka ruang dialog tanpa batas waktu. Setiap kali membuka buku, kita sebenarnya sedang duduk bersama para pemikir, penulis, filsuf, dan pelaku sejarah dari masa lalu hingga kini. Mereka berbicara kepada kita melalui kata-kata yang telah mereka susun, dan kita menyimaknya dalam keheningan, merenungkan setiap gagasan yang disampaikan. Dalam keheningan itulah terjadi percakapan yang paling mendalam—bukan dengan suara, tapi dengan makna.

Buku memungkinkan kita belajar langsung dari orang-orang yang mungkin tak pernah kita temui, bahkan yang telah lama tiada. Kita diajak memahami cara mereka memandang hidup, mengurai masalah, dan menggagas masa depan. Membaca menjadikan kita pewaris pemikiran besar tanpa harus menjadi bagian dari zamannya. Maka, membaca bukan sekadar aktivitas pribadi, melainkan pertemuan batin yang memperkaya pikiran dan memperluas cakrawala.

Percakapan diam-diam ini membuat kita tumbuh. Ia membentuk cara berpikir, mengasah kepekaan, dan menyuntikkan keberanian untuk bertanya. Semakin sering kita membaca, semakin banyak tokoh hebat yang diam-diam menyumbang pada pembentukan jati diri kita. Di sanalah kekuatan membaca: tak terlihat, tapi terasa; tak terdengar, tapi membentuk.

The Libraries are Havens Fundraiser continues! Join us in supporting library communities in crisis. 📚

Story Sunbirds and IBBY launched the "Libraries are Havens" fundraiser to support the brave librarians, children, and families connected to the IBBY libraries in Gaza.

Since 2008, these libraries have been safe spaces for imagination, learning, and community. Today, after devastating destruction, they are symbols of resilience and hope.

Our goal: Raise $10,000 by 1 June 2025 through the IBBY Children in Crisis Fund to provide urgent humanitarian aid — food, water, shelter, and essential supplies — to those keeping the spirit of the libraries alive.
