Jorge Ben Jor - Africa Brasil
On this edition, we went to the South and take a look on one of their maestros. Jorge Ben is a legendary Brazilian artist who revolutionized music by blending samba with pop, traditionally using a rhythmic acoustic guitar. In 1976, he released his magnum opus África Brasil, which he famously switched to the electric guitar, creating a landmark fusion of heavy American funk, rock riffs, and traditional Afro-Brazilian percussion. The album is a powerful celebration of Black pride and culture, driven by iconic tracks that became a soccer anthem and a track that its melody famously plagiarized by Rod Stewart. Today, this high-energy record is widely celebrated as one of the greatest and most influential Brazilian albums of all time.
