The month of August is dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Since the 16th century Catholic piety has assigned entire months to special devotions. The month of August is traditionally dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The physical heart of Mary is venerated (and not adored as the Sacred Heart of Jesus is) because it is united to her person and is the seat of her love (especially for her divine Son), virtue, and inner life. The image was inspired by scripture as, "His father and mother wondered at what was said about the child. Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother, "See him; he will be for the rise or fall of the multitudes of Israel. He shall stand as a sign of contradiction, while a sword will pierce your own soul. Then the secret thoughts of many may be brought to light."" - Luke 2:33-35

Today is the last day of the Chinese New Year 2024, also popularly called, "Chap Goh Meh", meaning the "15th Night" in English. The whole CNY period was quite an eventful celebration for me as I was kept amused with many activities while visiting my children who stay in Kuala Lumpur.

The celebration started off the first day with a Lion Dance at my local church in Butterworth, the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Many parishioners, especially those from the Mandarin speaking community, took the time to celebrate this auspicious day with heartfelt thanks as they recall the historical significance as recorded in the Holy Bible, "Now the non-Jewish people share the Inheritance; in Christ Jesus the non-Jews are incorporated and are to enjoy the Promise. This is the Good News" - Ephesians 3:6 "And in another place: Rejoice, pagan nations, with God's people." - Romans 15:10

I am so grateful that my God has included me in His plan of salvation, "as he said through the prophet Hosea: I will call "my people" those that were not my people, and "my beloved" the one who was not beloved." - Romans 9:25 "And in the same place where they were told: "You are not my people," they will be called children of the living God." - Romans 9:26

Yes, I am Chinese by birth and not in any way related to the Jewish people by blood ties, and yet there is a good news for me, "For we hold that people are in God's grace by faith and not because of all the things ordered by the Law." - Romans 3:28.

Wow! Isn't that fantastic? It only shows how merciful our God is.

God, the creator of all things is able to do this spiritually when he told the people, "and do not think: We have Abraham for our father. I tell you that God can raise children for Abraham from these stones!" - Matthew 3:9 and so, "I say to you, many will come from east and west and sit down with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob at the feast in the kingdom of heaven;" - Matthew 8:11

Recently, I simplified the creation of my edge-lit acrylic lamps. Instead of cutting the images as 2.5D, I decided to cut the images into just 2D line images. I was delighted to see that the images that I produced did not lose their attractiveness. In fact, with the OEM manufactured plastic base, the lamps looked really impressive.

An added bonus is - they became easier to design and fabricate. Cost comes down and I could sell them cheaper! That's good news for fans like you who are looking for affordable gifts.

I have created "Our Mother of Perpetual Help", "Saint Michael the Archangel", and "Saint Anne" engraved line art as edge-lit acrylic lamps at this time. This can be expanded to include your favourite saint if you let me know. Just contact me.
