Trump adviser Boulos threatens legal action over claims he benefitted from Lagos-Calabar road contract

Massad Boulos, senior adviser to US President Donald Trump for Arab and African affairs, has threatened legal action over claims that he benefitted from the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project.

Recent social media reports claimed that SCOA Nigeria, a company that deals in heavy-duty trucks and where Boulos serves as chief executive officer (CEOO), supplies equipment to Hitech Construction Company Ltd.

Burkina Faso junta dissolves over 200 associations in latest crackdown

Burkina Faso’s military rulers on Tuesday ordered the dissolution of around 200 associations, the latest clampdown on civic groups in the West African country.

In total, the Sahel country suspended 205 associations operating in sectors including health, education, women’s rights, farming, the environment, culture and sport.

Akpabio tok dis during di plenary on Tuesday afta some members of di Senate including Victor Umeh, announce dia defection to di Nigeria Democratic Congress, Labour Party, among odas.

Akpabio ask dis senators compile dia names inside one document so e go fit announce am togeda instead of to dey make di announcement for each defection on a daily basis.

“Resignation from ADC and declaration for Labour Party. Maybe all di pipo wey dey defect from ADC make dem just compile evritin inside one paper and bring am, so dat we no go keep announcing, announcing, announcing. Becos I tink say ADC don die.”

Desmond Elliot: Why I’m contesting for fourth term in Lagos assembly

Desmond Elliot, the Nigerian actor cm politician, has revealed his decision to represent Surulere constituency I for a fourth term in the Lagos state house of assembly.

In a recent X post, Elliot said he had obtained the nomination form to contest for re-election, formally informing constituents and stakeholders of his decision.

He added that his bid for another term is driven by a continued commitment to service and a desire to build on the progress achieved during his time in office.

The lawmaker also expressed gratitude to residents, political associates and community leaders for their support over the years, adding that it has been instrumental to his journey.

One person has been confirmed dead while three others sustained serious injuries following a violent clash at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex.

The incident occurred at the Balogun Business Association (BBA) market when a task force enforcing a stop-work order on illegal construction was reportedly attacked by armed individuals. The assailants opened fire during the confrontation, killing a member of the task force on the spot and injuring three others.
