Every morning, an old woman sat on the same wooden bench outside a small hospital.
She wasn't waiting for treatment.
She was waiting for a son who had promised, "Mom, I'll be back in five minutes."
That was eight years ago.
People who worked there knew her story. They offered her food, water, and sometimes money. But every evening, she smiled and said, "Thank you. My son will be here soon. He told me not to go anywhere."
One rainy afternoon, a young nurse sat beside her and gently asked, "Grandma... why do you still believe he'll come?"
The old woman looked at the sky, wiped away a tear, and whispered,
"Because a mother's heart doesn't know how to stop waiting."
Days later, the old woman passed away peacefully on that same bench.
In her small handbag, they found only three things:
A faded photo of her son.
An old handkerchief.
And a note that read:
"If my son comes back, please tell him I never stopped believing in him. I wasn't angry... I just wanted to see him one last time."
Some people cried after hearing her story.
But for many, it was too late.
Never get so busy chasing life that you forget the people who gave you life. One day, you'll look for them... and all that will remain are memories.
