Autism Awareness Campaign – School Sensitization

Today, we took the message to schools — because awareness must start early.

Engaging with students and educators, we spoke about understanding differences, showing kindness, and supporting children with autism in inclusive learning environments.

When children learn acceptance, they grow into compassionate adults.

Special thanks to our Campaign Coordinator, Ifeanyi Ephraim, for his continued effort in coordinating each step of this journey.

Today marked the beginning of our Autism Awareness Campaign (April 19th – 25th), organized by Deborah Autism Support Hub.

Our team started with a church sensitization program, creating awareness, educating families, and encouraging acceptance within the community.

This campaign is not optional for us, it is a responsibility. A mission to ensure that no child is hidden, misunderstood, or left behind.

Over the course of this week, we will continue our outreach through:
• Schools
• Markets
• Churches
• Home-to-home visits

Together, we are spreading one clear message:
Autism is not a curse. Not a shame. Every child deserves support, love, and inclusion.

Today, we stand together to raise awareness, promote acceptance, and support families raising children with autism. At Deborah Autism Support Hub, our mission is to especially reach African communities and Nigerian parents - breaking stigma and replacing fear with knowledge.

Sometimes, the best reinforcers aren’t toys or treats… they’re experiences we create.

In this session, we used simple paper crafts - a flower and a foldable card - not just for fun, but as a creative reinforcement strategy.

Why it works: 🌸 Builds anticipation (“I get to create something!”)
✂️ Encourages fine motor and focus
🎁 Gives a sense of achievement and ownership
💬 Creates opportunities for communication and interaction.

When children get involved in making their own rewards, motivation becomes more meaningful and long-lasting.

Reinforcement doesn’t always have to be bought… sometimes, it’s something we build together ❤️
