I stepped out to service the needs of other people because in it, I have found my Ikigai.
While I would like to establish the fact that I belong to the school of thought which believes that leadership is by no measure a function of titles, it deals largely with the delivery of values.
In my short life, I have been privileged to serve in different capacities as a leader both with and without titles.
If there's one fact I have come to realize in my leadership experience, it is the fact that our world is filled with mediocres who would always want to blend with the crowd.
The inferiority mindset is one that has crippled young men and women with the ability to lead people and enact a change in our generation to lose out on what could have been used to their advantage.
It is a natural phenomenon that people will always hang behind other people when it comes to visibility and pushing oneself in the public eye.
It takes a great deal of guts to speak up, to express one’s views while others are watching and listening.
No body remembers the silent folks either in the classroom or in the boardroom, I have learned to make contributions no matter how little it could be to conversations that will make me linger in peoples memories.
I have come to realize that people don’t have the time to think so much about you because obviously it’s a busy world out there and they will seldom remember the scintillating beauty of your clothes or the smartness of your shoes but they will always remember your name once it is mentioned.
Your name is a brand that you must keep marketing to people wherever you go whether at large conferences or a local community meeting.
Contribute meaningfully to conversations and ask questions when you don’t know about a subject.
Leadership is a journey paved with thorns and piercing stones but it is also a promising adventure that can give you instant visibility and influence that will make you a voice in a world that is filled with timid folks.
Speak up, for it feels so good to bask in the euphoria of the spotlight.
I will write to you again!
