🌅 THE MIRROR AND THE MEMORY
Every morning, we stand before a physical mirror to remind ourselves of what we look like. Without that mirror, we would go through the day with an incomplete or distorted sense of our appearance.
The same is true spiritually.
James tells us that the Word of God is a mirror—not showing us our flaws, but revealing our divine origin, our true identity, and our completeness in Christ. Yet the danger is this: we can look into that mirror, see who we are, and then walk away and forget.
Forgetfulness is not a memory problem.
It is an attention problem.
The Hebrew word shakach means “to lack attention, to be unconscious, to be oblivious.”
The Greek word epilanthanomai means “to neglect, to put out of mind.”
We forget who we are when we stop paying attention to what God has said.

🌿 WHEN WE FORGET, WE LIVE OUT OF CHARACTER
When our eyes drift from the mirror of the Word, we begin to live from the flesh—worry, anxiety, fear, striving, and self-righteousness. We become like the prodigal son: still a son, still loved, still belonging, but acting like a slave because he forgot his father’s heart.
But the Word calls us back.
Colossians 2:10 (Mirror Bible)
“Jesus mirrors our completeness and endorses our true identity.”
Christ is the mirror.
Christ is the definition.
Christ is the conclusion of who we are.

🌟 THE CALL TO FIX OUR GAZE
Hebrews 12:2 (AMP) urges us to keep looking:
“Looking away from all that will distract us and focusing our eyes on Jesus…”
The more we behold Him, the more we behold ourselves in Him.
The more we remember Him, the more we remember who we are.
Our identity is
