A POWERFUL VOICE FROM THE PLATEAU

Dr. Afan Azhang Kazé is an Associate Professor of African Literature in the Department of English at the University of Jos and one of the distinguished literary voices emerging from the Plateau.

He earned his PhD in English from Rhodes University, South Africa, where his research focused on Postcolonial Ecocriticism, exploring the intersections of literature, environment, identity, and society within African realities.

Beyond the classroom and academia, Dr. Kazé is a gifted fiction writer, poet, and singer songwriter whose creative works reflect deep cultural consciousness, artistic excellence, and thoughtful engagement with the African experience.

His voice continues to inspire conversations around literature, memory, identity, creativity, and the power of stories in shaping communities and nations.

We are honoured to host him at the 3rd Plateau International Literary Festival 2026 as part of a growing movement of writers, readers, thinkers, and culture shapers committed to strengthening the literary future of Plateau and beyond.

AFRICA’S STORYTELLER ARRIVES PLATEAU

The 3rd Plateau International Literary Festival 2026 is honoured to welcome Dr. Wale Okediran, one of Africa’s most respected literary voices and cultural leaders.

Dr. Okediran currently serves as the Secretary General of the Pan African Writers Association (PAWA), where he leads efforts to promote African literature, preserve the continent’s stories, and raise a new generation of writers and readers across Africa and the world.

A medical doctor, former member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, and award winning author, he has written more than fourteen novels that explore leadership, politics, identity, justice, and the human condition. His celebrated novel, Tenants of the House, won the prestigious Wole Soyinka Prize for African Literature and remains one of the most important contemporary African political novels.

His books are studied in universities across Africa and beyond, while his voice continues to shape major literary and cultural conversations on the continent.

At a time when Africa must tell its own stories with courage and clarity, Dr. Wale Okediran stands as one of the leading voices helping to shape that future.

Join us as we welcome him as one of the lead speakers at the 3rd Plateau International Literary Festival 2026.
