HON. PWAJOK CONDEMNS VIOLENT ATTACKS IN BARKIN LADI, CALLS FOR INCREASED SECURITY MEASURES

The people of Barkin-Ladi were thrown into a state of mourning after Armed Fulani herdsmen attacked Rawuru and Rashas (Yelwa) villages claiming the lives of 13 innocent people including 11 in Yelwa;

•Musa Dung Bot 32 years, lost their lives. The attacks also resulted in the rustling of 45 cows in Rawuru and over 200 cows in Rashas. The attacks occurred at around 10:00 pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, and early hours of today.

The Executive Chairman of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Council Honourable Stephen Gyang Pwajok vehemently condemned these attacks describing them as a blatant attempt to destabilize the peace and security that the local government has worked hard to keep. In the Chairman's statement to the media at Rashas, He appealed to security agencies to take their responsibilities seriously to ensure peace and security of lives and property are achieved in the area. The Chairman also urged security agencies to be more proactive and responsive to security issues particularly when alerted to potential threats. He called for justice and fairness in identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators of these heinous acts.

Hon. Pwajok expressed his sympathy to the families of the deceased and the communities affected and appreciated the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters Gen. Shipi and the Government House Chief Security Officer (CSO) for visiting the affected areas to convey the state government's sympathy and condolences.
