The olfactory nerve is very sensitive and no two people smell the same.
If you’ve ever developed headaches after wearing a fragrance then you are allergic to certain ingredients in the fragrance. The reason is that the perfume industry formulates fragrances with a mixture of natural and chemical ingredients. These chemical ingredients are also known as synthetic so when someone says a fragrance smells synthetic they simply imply it smells more chemical than natural products.
