*WOMEN IN POLITICS *
It is the 21st century and past the era where women are caged and limited to house chores alongside raising children. She no longer wants to be forced to stay in the shadows, she simply wants equality in all sphere's of life.
It is a known fact that women have been constantly under represented in elective and appointive positions in Nigeria, despite the fact that Women constitute more than half of the entire Nigerian population. This undermines the effectiveness of democracy in this part of the world. A fact is that lot's of women have been raised to see themselves as inferior and unfit to be involved in decision making.
There has been a clamor for change and effective laws against GENDER BASED VIOLENCE (GBV), previous studies show that women are mostly affected, hence the need for them to be part of the country’s decision making body.
Unfortunately, a nigerian woman grows up to be seen as a sexual object and/or maternal object with no respect for her thoughts, desires and opinions. She is seen as a GREAT WOMEN, due to her ability to respond to patriarchal demand without complaints and faced with a lot of disadvantageous laws which undermines her growth. She is a third class citizen in her own country .
This is a clarion call to Women to brace up, learn, read up, build your profile, develop self confidence and get involved. Time to effect change,no one is a custodian of power.
THE TIME IS NOW TO RISE.
