Running a baking business taught me something I didn’t figure out when I started: consistency is hard. Showing up every day doing the same thing and sometimes getting no result or even a notice can be depressing and hard. And for someone extremely impatient like myself, it was a humbling experience.

There were days I didn’t feel inspired, but orders still had to go out. I was tired many days because I was juggling 4am-6pm corporate work and being a baker. There were times I had no order, but I still showed up and acted like I had a full request.

Consistency is showing up when there were many orders and showing up when there were none. Some people think consistency means doing big things every day. Running a baking business taught me that it actually means doing small things well, over and over, until people trust your name without thinking twice.

Keep showing up.

Hello 😁

So, I have an ebook that I recently launched on everything banana bread for beginners.

It has all the useful tips, from what utensils you need to get, what each ingredient does, storage tips, costing (if you plan on selling), and recipes.

It is priced at 5k and is available on Selar.

You can save it for when you need it, or gift it to a friend or partner who wants to explore baking banana bread.

Selar link is here - https://selar.com/m/adaobi-ezirim1

Please help me share 🤲😘

The first thing I ever baked that made someone say, “You should sell this,” was cake. I was still in university when I shared a cake I had baked at home with an acquaintance. He liked it so much, he asked what it would cost to bake a whole pan just for him. I quickly pressed my calculator (and yes, I added my profit), told him the amount, and he paid. Just like that, I made my first money from something I loved doing.

Cake was actually the first thing I learned to bake. Back then, I didn’t even know cakes had flavors or types; they were all “cake” to me. You remember that soft cake from those days with nutmeg inside? That one. I didn’t have a proper recipe, but I knew if I creamed butter and sugar until fluffy, added eggs, flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and flavor, somehow, cake would happen.
Some days, the sugar was too much. Some days, the butter was too much. And some days, magic happened, and it came out just right. I even experimented like a scientist in my mother’s kitchen by adding Milo one time because I thought that was how chocolate cake was made, and another time I tried grated coconut (which surprisingly worked perfectly).

One thing about me? I kept showing up anyway. Again and again. Because I had already decided I was going to become a good baker. 🍰

I recently moved out of Lagos

Gist for another day where I will be talking about where I moved to and why (which seems to be the most asked question)

Yesterday while working on my content for the week, I realized that baking is the one skill I do so well so while I might not be physically available to kickstart my brand immediately, I can talk about what I know how to do so well.

Stay with me.

Hello people ❤️🫡

The last couple of days have been super stressful for my rider and I. Stressful for me because I can be in the middle of work and receive a call that a particular customer is not picking up and he has been outside for more than 15 minutes.
For my rider who has a crazy schedule and works with time, getting to the destination of customers and their phones are either switched off or unreachable has been a normal complain. These days, if I see his call few minutes after he's left my house i get pensive because I already know. Or is it the ones who give wrong addresses? You get there and find out the addresses conflict

Between yesterday and today, we have lost a lot of our own money trying to re-book a ride because the customers were unavailable the first time and the rider left and is insisting on a rerun fee.

This is not how I'll make the money I need to marry Ekiti man. Epp me to help you 🙏

If you order for our product for yourself or someone, please inform the person so that they can be by their phones. Having a rider wait for you for over 20 minutes is so underwhelming because then, I cannot focus on my work.
Then, for those who live in estates with multiple rules, please do well to inform me so that I can relay to my rider ahead of time.
Going forward, wait time will not be longer than five minutes and if the rider leaves, you'll have to pay for delivery again to have your item. I'll do my best to include this in every order request.

Also, except you are super sure the recipient has a healthy phone relationship, we don't want to handle surprise packages again 🙏 Wetin my eye don see untop surprise package erika.

Thank you 🫶
