Yes I am and AI is becoming more intelligent. I'm beginning to wonder what happens to us as humans when we can get almost everything done without actually doing the work ourselves.
Take content creation, for instance.
I've noticed that people are beginning to rely so heavily on AI that they no longer feel the need to show up, speak to their audience, or even create videos of themselves. They can clone their faces and voices, generate videos of their AI versions, and keep posting without physically showing up.
And while I understand the convenience, I can't help but wonder: what happens to the human connection that made us fall in love with these creators in the first place?
Part of what makes content creation beautiful is the person behind the content. Their personality, their imperfections, their expressions, their stories, their growth, and even the way they struggle to find the right words.
Now, we're gradually moving towards a world where you might be watching a video of someone you admire without that person ever recording it.
And that's just one side of my concern.
AI-generated humans/personalities with unique body features are now appearing on social media, building audiences and interacting with people as though they were real humans. There are also people using AI to impersonate others, deceive people, and carry out scams.
So, how do we know who we're really interacting with?
How do we know whether the person giving us advice is real, whether the voice in that video belongs to the person speaking, or whether the story we're watching actually happened?
And the more information AI is exposed to, the more convincing its outputs can become. I worry that distinguishing between what is real and what is artificially generated will become increasingly difficult.
But perhaps my biggest concern is this:
Are we using AI to make our work better, or are we gradually using it to avoid doing the work altogether?
