BREAKING NEWS: AlphaTheta Pioneer DJ Nigeria Initiates Arrest of Suspected Importers of Counterfeit DJ Controllers in Alaba International Market, Lagos
LAGOS — AlphaTheta Pioneer DJ Nigeria has commenced moves to arrest suspected importers and distributors of substandard and counterfeit DJ controllers at the popular Alaba International Market in Ojo, Lagos, in a renewed effort to protect consumers and safeguard the integrity of its brand.
The company disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the action followed a series of investigations which uncovered the circulation of fake and low-quality DJ equipment falsely branded as genuine Pioneer DJ products within the market.
According to the company, the proliferation of counterfeit DJ controllers poses significant risks to end users, including professional DJs and entertainment businesses, as such devices are often prone to malfunction, poor audio output, and potential damage to connected sound systems.
“AlphaTheta Pioneer DJ Nigeria is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and protecting our customers from substandard products. We have identified individuals involved in the importation and distribution of counterfeit DJ controllers, and appropriate legal actions are being initiated,” the statement read.
Sources familiar with the development revealed that the company is working closely with relevant law enforcement agencies to track down the suspected importers and ensure that those found culpable are brought to justice.
The move is also expected to curb the influx of fake DJ equipment into Nigeria’s entertainment market, particularly in major commercial hubs like Alaba International Market, which is known for electronics trading.
Industry stakeholders have welcomed the development, noting that the widespread availability of counterfeit DJ gear has negatively impacted genuine distributors and undermined consumer confidence.
A Lagos-based professional DJ, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “Many DJs unknowingly buy fake controllers because they are cheaper. But these devices fail quickly and can ruin performances. This crackdown is long overdue.”
AlphaTheta further advised customers to purchase DJ equipment only from authorized dealers and to verify product authenticity before making any purchase.
The company reiterated its commitment to collaborating with authorities to eliminate counterfeit products from the market and ensure that Nigerian consumers have access to genuine, high-quality DJ equipment.
