Akwete isnât just another fabric; itâs a symbol of Igbo heritage, craftsmanship, and identity. Every weave tells a story of culture, patience, and excellence passed down through generations.
Over the years, Iâve had the privilege of transforming Akwete into contemporary outfits through MadeByASA, proving that our indigenous textiles can be timeless, elegant, and globally relevant. Every piece weâve created is our own little way of keeping this rich tradition alive.
The announcement of a âŚ2 billion support package for the Akwete industry by Senator Oluremi Tinubu is encouraging. If properly managed, it could empower weavers, improve production, create jobs, and help position Akwete as a fabric that competes on the global stage.
As someone from Abia State, this is especially close to my heart.
Hereâs to preserving our culture while creating fashion that tells our story.
