BAYERO UNIVERSITY, KANO

Bayero University is a Federal University in Kano state, having 17 faculties and 108 courses. It is one of the fastest growing universities in Nigeria academically and infrastructure wise. It has one of the largest Library in West Africa.

BUK is one of the eight universities with distinction in NUC grading in Nigeria, it is the only university with faculty of computer science and information technology offering (software engineering, cyber security information technology, and computer science),

it is one of the four universities offering mechatronics engineering, the only university in Northern Nigeria running doctor of optometry degree. it has the most accredited courses since 2007, and by 2019 it is occupying the third position of the universities with the most accredited courses. BUK is occupying the fourth position in Law accreditation, behind ABU,UNILAG,and OAU respectively though OAU is having problem with law accreditation in this recent years,

BUK faculty of law is the biggest faculty of law in Nigeria, and second in west Africa with the biggest moot court in Nigeria. The university also has the largest center for dry land agriculture in Nigeria.
BUK is arguably rated high in NUC MBBS accreditation in the country.

Aminu Kano teaching hospital which is the clinical hospital attached to BUK is the hospital to record first kidney transplant in Nigeria, it is also the hospital with the most successful k!dney transplañts, making it one of the most successful teaching hospital in Nigeria.

Entrepreneurship pathway to economic devt, Abdul Rahman tells student

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has described entrepreneurship as driver of economic development and job creation.

The vice-chancellor spoke when he declared open an exhibition fair organised by the FULafia Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies for 300-level students of the University.

The vice-chancellor, while congratulating the students for showcasing their talents, stressed the importance of acquiring skills that would be useful to them and society in general.

He said: "The skills you have acquired in the University would enable you to earn some income and create jobs, if properly utilised.”

Abdul Rahman encouraged students to use the opportunities of their training to develop managerial and social skills needed to market their products.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies, Prof. David Ugal, said the exhibition which is a practical entrepreneurial course for the students was in line with the vision of the University to provide lifelong skills for socio-economic development.

He said the artwork and items displayed by the students demonstrated the capacity of the centre to carry out most of the activities that the University might wish to undertake in the future.

He appreciated the vice-chancellor for providing the needed resources and support for the centre, assuring him of the centre’s staff commitment to sustaining the successes achieved.

Ugal thanked the students for their patience in learning the skills, calling on them to use the opportunity to improve their economic situations.

Those who attended the exhibition included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Aleruchi Chuku, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Partnerships, Prof.Samaila Usman Dakyes, Registrar, Mallam Nuradeen Abdu, Director, Academic Planning, Prof. Ilemona Adofu, Deputy Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies, Dr Abdulkareem Hamza and Deputy Dean, Faculty of Arts, Dr Joseph Ezekiel Obuje.
