*United Tiv Nation: One Voice, One Mind*

I want to talk about the Tiv people and Benue State.

The Tiv people are wonderful people. They have good hearts, they are strong, welcoming, and accommodating. They warmly receive visitors and are easygoing by nature. Benue is a state that God has richly blessed. It is known as the “Food Basket of the Nation” because of its fertile land and hardworking farmers. The state produces yams, rice, soybeans, groundnuts, oranges, mangoes, and many other fruits and crops in abundance.

People come to Benue to live, work, and establish themselves. Fulani herdsmen bring their cattle to graze, and other ethnic groups settle there too. The Tiv people have always accommodated them and even given them land to stay and build their lives.

But today, the same people they once helped are killing them, destroying their farmlands, and burning their homes. Men, women, children with bright futures, both young and old, are being killed. Yet, despite all this pain, the Tiv people still keep a good heart and allow others to live among them.

So I am pleading with a heavy heart: Please, stop the killings in Benue. Stop killing the Tiv people. They are good people. Let us stop killing one another. God has blessed us, and no one can take away what God has given to Benue State. You cannot take their joy or their blessings.

Let us come together and unite for love and peace. Together, we shall overcome. We need love in this country, Nigeria, and in the Tiv Nation.
