🚨 MYTH vs FACT — Let’s settle this medically.

❌ MYTH: “Antibiotics can treat any infection.”

A lot of people still believe this. 👀

✅ FACT: Antibiotics work against bacterial infections, not viral infections like most common colds and flu.

Taking antibiotics when you don’t need them can also contribute to antibiotic resistance.

So before you ask for antibiotics, ask:

“Is this actually a bacterial infection?” 🧠

THE RAINY DAY THAT TAUGHT A HEALTH LESSON

Dark clouds filled the sky as school ended.

Many children ran into the rain laughing.

Ten-year-old Grace wanted to join them.

Her mother handed her a raincoat and umbrella.

Grace frowned.

"My friends aren't using these."

Her mother smiled.

"Staying dry helps keep you comfortable and reduces the risk of getting chilled after being soaked."

Grace reluctantly agreed.

After getting home, she changed into dry clothes, washed her hands, and enjoyed a warm meal.

The next day, several classmates stayed home because they were unwell.

Grace was grateful her mother had encouraged healthy habits after being out in the rain.

Small precautions can make a big difference.

THE WATER VENDOR'S LESSON

One hot afternoon, twelve-year-old Hassan bought a cold drink from a roadside vendor.

His younger sister reached for it too.

Before opening it, their father checked the bottle.

The seal was broken.

He politely returned it and bought another one from a trusted shop.

"Not everything that looks clean is safe," he explained.

Later that week, Hassan learned in school how contaminated food and drinks can spread diseases.

From then on, he always checked expiry dates and packaging before buying food.

Good health often begins before the first bite.

💡 PUBLIC HEALTH LESSON
Always buy food and drinks from trusted sources. Check expiry dates and ensure packaging is properly sealed.

📢 CALL TO ACTION
Inspect the food and drinks in your kitchen today.

THE GRANDMOTHER WHO NEVER MISSED A WALK

At sixty-eight, Grandma Esther was one of the healthiest people in the neighbourhood.

Every morning before sunrise, she wore her trainers and took a thirty-minute walk.

People often asked,
"Grandma, why do you still exercise?"

She smiled.
"Movement is medicine."

One weekend, her grandchildren joined her.

They expected a tiring walk.

Instead, Grandma turned it into an adventure, pointing out birds, trees, flowers, and greeting neighbours along the way.

The children laughed, ran, and asked questions.
Weeks later, the walks became a family tradition.

Exercise wasn't just improving their health—it was creating memories.

Healthy families don't always need expensive gyms.

Sometimes, all they need is a pair of comfortable shoes and time together.

💡 PUBLIC HEALTH LESSON:
Regular physical activity improves heart health, strengthens muscles, reduces stress, and supports healthy ageing.

📢 CALL TO ACTION:
Take a 30-minute walk with your family this week.

💬 What's your favourite way to stay active?

THE TOOTHACHE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED

Nine-year-old Amina loved sweets.
Chocolate before school.
Candy after lunch.
Biscuits before bedtime.

Her mother reminded her to brush twice daily, but Amina often rushed through it.

One night, she woke up crying with severe tooth pain.

The next morning, the dentist explained that cavities had developed because food particles and sugar remained on her teeth.

After treatment, Amina made brushing her teeth part of her daily routine.

She even reminded her younger brother every morning.

Healthy smiles begin with healthy habits.

💡 PUBLIC HEALTH LESSON:
Brush your teeth twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and reduce sugary snacks to prevent tooth decay.

📢 CALL TO ACTION:
Replace one sugary snack with fruit today.

💬 Do your children brush their teeth twice every day?

THE PHONE THAT STOLE FAMILY TIME

Every evening after dinner, the Ibrahim family sat together in the living room. Yet something was missing.

Dad was scrolling through football news.

Mum was replying to work messages.

The children were glued to cartoons and games.
Although they were in the same room, nobody was talking.

One Sunday afternoon, their grandmother visited. She looked around and smiled.

"When I was younger," she said, "our happiest moments weren't on screens. They were in conversations."

Her words stayed with the family.

That evening, Dad suggested a new tradition.

"Let's switch off our phones for one hour every night."

The children weren't excited at first, but they agreed.

During that hour, they shared stories, played simple games, laughed, and even discussed school and health.

A few weeks later, everyone noticed a difference. The children became more open about their feelings, the parents felt less stressed, and the family grew closer.

Sometimes, the healthiest medicine isn't found in a pharmacy—it begins with giving each other undivided attention.

💡 PUBLIC HEALTH LESSON:
Spending quality time together supports children's emotional well-being and strengthens family relationships. Limiting screen time also improves sleep and mental health.

📢 CALL TO ACTION:
Create one screen-free hour for your family this week.

💬 How many hours does your family spend together without phones each day?
