🕌✨ The Blue Mosque & Hagia Sophia – Two Must-See Places in Istanbul 🇹🇷

If you’re visiting Sultanahmet, you can see two of Istanbul’s most famous landmarks almost directly opposite each other 😍📸

💙 The Blue Mosque – Sultan Ahmed Mosque

The Blue Mosque was built between 1609 and 1616 during the Ottoman Empire, on the orders of Sultan Ahmed I 👑

Inside you’ll find thousands of beautiful İznik tiles, huge domes, Arabic calligraphy and incredible details everywhere you look ✨🕌

It’s also famous for its six minarets, which made the mosque especially remarkable when it was built.

🎟️ Entrance to the Blue Mosque is FREE.
It is still an active mosque, so tourists may need to wait during prayer times. Dress respectfully, remove your shoes and women should cover their hair.

And when you walk outside… another incredible building is waiting right across the square 👀👇

⛪🕌 Hagia Sophia

Hagia Sophia is almost 1,500 years old. The building you see today was completed in 537 AD during the Byzantine Empire 🤯

Over its long history it has been:

⛪ A Christian church
🕌 An Ottoman mosque
🏛️ A museum
🕌 And today, a mosque again

Inside, you can see Christian mosaics and Islamic calligraphy in the same building, which makes Hagia Sophia incredibly unique ❤️✨

The paid entrance at Hagia Sophia is mainly for tourist sightseeing. The ground-floor prayer area is reserved for worshippers and Muslims entering to pray are not charged for worship.

🌶️✨ Discover the Famous Spice Bazaar in Istanbul – Mısır Çarşısı 🇹🇷

If you’re visiting Istanbul, this is definitely one of those places you should experience at least once 😍🕌

Welcome to Mısır Çarşısı, also known as the Egyptian Bazaar or Spice Bazaar, one of Istanbul’s most famous historic markets 🌿🍵🥜🍬

The bazaar was built in the 17th century during the Ottoman Empire and has been part of Istanbul’s trading history for more than 350 years 🤯🇹🇷

The name “Mısır” means Egypt, because many spices and products historically arrived in Istanbul through Egypt and other parts of the Ottoman trade network 🌍🚢

Today you’ll find everything from:

🍵 Turkish teas
🥜 Pistachios & nuts
🍬 Turkish delight
🍯 Honey
🍇 Dried fruits

🚋 How to get there?

One of the easiest ways is to take the T1 tram to Eminönü. From there, it’s only a short walk 🚶‍♂️✨

🚢 Coming from the Asian side?
I would recommend taking the ferry to Eminönü ⛴️🌊 You get a beautiful Bosphorus ride at the same time and arrive very close to the bazaar.

🚆 You can also take Marmaray to Sirkeci and walk from there.

🇹🇷 What to Do in Istanbul? Take a Trip to Ankara and Visit Atatürk’s Mausoleum

If you’re staying in Istanbul and want to discover more of Türkiye, consider taking a trip to Ankara 🚄🏛️

By high-speed train, the journey takes around 4 hours, and one of the most important places to visit in the capital is Anıtkabir — the mausoleum and final resting place of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

🇹🇷 Who was Atatürk?

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was born in 1881 and became a military commander and political leader. He played the central leadership role in the Turkish War of Independence, and when the Republic of Türkiye was proclaimed on 29 October 1923, he became its first president.

During the early Republic, major changes were introduced in areas including:

📚 Education
🔤 The Latin-based Turkish alphabet
⚖️ Civil law
👩 Women’s legal and political rights
🏛️ Government institutions
🌍 Modernization of the country

🖤 Why is his resting place so important?

Atatürk died on 10 November 1938 at Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul. His body was initially placed in a temporary tomb at Ankara’s Ethnography Museum.

After Anıtkabir was completed, his remains were transferred there on 10 November 1953.

Today, Anıtkabir is much more than a grave. It is a huge memorial complex dedicated to Atatürk and the history of the founding of the Turkish Republic. 🇹🇷🏛️

When you visit, you can see:

🏛️ The enormous ceremonial square
🇹🇷 The Atatürk and War of Independence Museum
🪦 The Hall of Honour and Atatürk’s mausoleum

🏨✨ The Cheapest 5-Star Hotel on the Asian Side of Istanbul, Türkiye 🇹🇷

If you’re looking for an affordable 5-star hotel on the Asian side of Istanbul, Miracle İstanbul Asia Airport Hotel & Spa is definitely worth checking out ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

For my travel dates, this was the cheapest 5-star hotel I found on Istanbul’s Asian side, and after staying here I would personally give it a 9/10 ❤️🔥

🛏️ The room
The room was spacious, modern and very comfortable. The bedsheets felt fresh and clean, everything looked hygienic, and I didn’t see any mold or dirty areas. The room itself was also much bigger than I expected 😍✨

🚿 Clean bathroom
🏨 Large room
✨ Modern interior
🏊 Pool & spa facilities
⭐ My rating: 9/10

🍳 What about the food?
I didn’t eat at the hotel, so I can’t fairly rate the breakfast or restaurant. Personally, if you’re staying on the Asian side, I’d recommend going outside and discovering the local restaurants instead 🥙🍢☕

🚇🚌 Getting around Istanbul

Public transport is very useful from the Asian side. Once you get towards Kadıköy or Üsküdar, I strongly recommend taking the ferry to the European side instead of wasting time in traffic ⛴️🌊

You get transportation AND a beautiful Bosphorus boat ride at the same time 😍📸

⛴️🌍 One of the best ways to explore Istanbul: take the ferry! 🇹🇷

Istanbul is one of the few cities in the world where you can travel from Europe to Asia in just one short ferry ride across the Bosphorus 😍🌊

🚗 Traffic in Istanbul can get extremely busy, and travelling by car or taxi can sometimes take one or even two hours. Instead of wasting valuable time in traffic, take the ferry! ⛴️🔥

💰 Price: around 60–65 TL per person with an Istanbulkart, depending on the route. So it’s not only relaxing, but also very affordable.

And the best part? The ferry ride itself is part of the Istanbul experience ❤️

🥖🔥 You CANNOT miss this legendary hidden food gem in Istanbul! 🇹🇷

Deep inside Istanbul’s historic Grand Bazaar you’ll find Mini Tuşba Meze Evi — a tiny deli of only around 6 m², but packed with incredible flavors 😍🥩🧀

This little spot has been serving local shopkeepers and visitors since 1981, and recently it has become incredibly popular on social media 📱🔥

The sandwiches are prepared fresh and completely customized by Osman Abi, who has been working here for more than 40 years 👨‍🍳❤️

🥖 Build your own sandwich with: premium cured meats like pastırma, antrikot and roast beef, different Turkish cheeses, homemade butter, fresh mezes and plenty of other ingredients.

And these definitely aren’t your average small sandwiches… they’re absolutely loaded! 🤯🥪🔥

Because the shop is so tiny and popular, you might have to wait in line — but that’s part of the experience. The combination of the old Grand Bazaar atmosphere, fresh ingredients and decades of history makes this place really special 🕌✨

🌿💦 Gizlikent Waterfall, Türkiye 🇹🇷

If you’re visiting the Fethiye, Kaş or Saklıkent area, this is definitely a place worth adding to your route 😍

Gizlikent Şelalesi is hidden between the rocks and greenery near Seydikemer in Muğla. What makes this place so fun is that you don’t just walk up to a waterfall — you actually have to make your way through the valley and the cold river to reach it 🌊⛰️

First, you walk down a long staircase into the canyon. Once you reach the bottom, the real adventure starts 👇

💦 You walk through the flowing water
🪨 The path takes you between rocks and greenery
🌿 The deeper you go, the more hidden it feels
📸 There are plenty of beautiful spots for photos and videos
🔥 At the end, you reach the waterfall itself

The water can be cold and the rocks can be slippery, so water shoes with good grip are definitely a good idea 👟🌊

Once you arrive at the waterfall, you can cool down, take photos and even stand under the falling water if you don’t mind getting completely soaked 😂💦

💰 Entrance: Free
🚗 Parking: Around 200 TL per car
🔥 Activities such as ATV, buggy, zipline and rafting cost extra.

Around the entrance you can also find restaurants, places to sit and different activities such as ATV tours, buggy rides, zipline, rafting/tubing and jeep safari experiences 🛞🏎️🚣

It’s also very close to Saklıkent Canyon, so you can easily combine both places in one day 🇹🇷❤️

A perfect stop if you like nature, a little adventure and places that feel different from a normal beach day 🌿🔥
