Our new intern at Boutique Holland.

Youp is 22 years old and was born in Alkmaar; the city with their famous cheese market. His favorite Dutch dish is ‘Andijvie stamppot’ and in the weekends Youp loves to play music or go out fishing.

Youp is a third year student Tourism Management at InHolland Haarlem.

The famous Dutch clogs were founded in the year 1230 in Nieuwendijk Amsterdam. They were used for the muddy Dutch soil of our country. After the Dutch people threw it into fire after use, still they were unaffordable in the medieval ages for the poorest part of the population. The traditional Dutch people used the clogs for dancing as well at weddings and parties. It is possible to make your own clogs or to go for a excursion for experiencing the typica Dutch.

The Hague was created in the medieval age around the Hofvijver and the Binnenhof. Now it is the center of Dutch politics. Our king's residence is as well established in The Hague and most of our ambassades and the high council. Besides that, The Hague is next to the North Sea and has a coastline of 11 kilometers. Also the The Hague is a nice city to stay for a trip in The Netherlands

The Netherlands most known cheese is called 'Goudse Kaas'🧀 ⁠

This is where it all started, even early in the Middle Ages. It was mainly the real farm cheeses, which were traditionally manufactured in the surrounding farms. These products had to find their way to the customer. The centre for that cheese shop became Gouda. Gouda was convenient and had ideal sailing connections with the surrounding places and the port city of Rotterdam. Around the impressive and centuries-old Gouda town hall the weekly Cheese Market was held; a beautiful trade tableau. In 1667, the city council of Gouda obtained the rights to tax this lucrative trade. Yes, back then! In 1668' De Waag' was built opposite the town hall. There, the purchase and discharged cheeses were weighed and the amount of tax was determined. Gouda Cheese became an increasingly important commodity. Soon various cooperatives and trading houses were established in and around Gouda.⁠
