Kelly Finnigan is the frontman of the American soul band Monophonics. In addition, the singer/keyboardist maintains an active solo career. Finnigan breathes soul in everything he does: his compositions, the Hammond playing, his exciting live shows, the production work and his voice laced with emotion. Because the man is very prolific, quite a few 7" inch vinyl singles have been released over the years on which different jewels can be found on both side of the record. Hence the excellent initiative of Terry Cole of Colemine Records to release the album B-Sides, Singles & Forgotten Gems now. It gives a wonderful overview of Kelly Finnigan's work that spans over 15 years. Four hours after yesterday's solar eclipse, the album MIVRO II came out today. While outside the moon moved in front of the sun, this record opens with the track 'Moon' and ends with 'Sun', separated by five planets. Together, they form the days of the week. The solar eclipse took place on the day of 'Mercury', while the release occurred within the first minutes of 'Jupiter'. The planets Saturn, Mars and Venus spin around on the turn table completing the circle. By the way, the solar eclipse outside was complete in Portugal, which is where trumpeter Pedro Jerónimo is originally from and where the album was recorded. Arthur Conley wrote Sweet Soul Music with Otis Redding in 1967. In the late 1970s he left the USA and eventually settled in the Netherlands in the early 80s. The New Funky met his Dutch musical friend Alwin Mutgeert. We listened to un-released songs that no one heard before of one of the finest voices of soul.
