Dropping the schedules of our talented troupe of teachers 💕 these are our lovely instructors who will greet you when you arrive in the sewing or craft café, and guide you through your projects.

Ines : our pattern drawing genius, Ines will make the confusing mathematical world of pattern drawing a piece of cake for those in her class. Join her Mondays in the pattern and sewing café to kick off your week right.

Alba : we’re blessed to have one more month left of Alba! You can find repeating her mantra “pinning is winning” and offering her expert hand on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Michelle : our creative chameleon; as well as running the sewing café on Fridays, you can find Michelle teaching our lingerie and basics courses, when she’s not moulding new fashion minds in the kids class!

Yrsa : we’re delighted to welcome Yrsa, who from October onwards will lead the craft café on Saturdays! Expect cosy crafty vibes with her at the helm.

Katia : to round off the week, you’ll be in the versatile hands of Katia for both sewing and craft. And for anyone looking for guidance on a project involving corsets? Katia can advise, she’s been gaining experience in this tricky technical area for the past years!

Could easily lose ourselves in an afternoon in the fabric store….

Our sewing café in West is also home to our store, where you can find everything from sewing patterns, to crafting material, supplies and kits 🪡

What’s more (!!), all the fabrics you’ll find here will be natural (mostly organic) and deadstock materials, and we aim to choose the vegan and plastic free options where possible. Sustainability is at the heart of De Steek!

Mark your calendars ‼️ Saturday 26th September we will be hosting another clothes swap, with a customisation station so you can find that perfect fit.

In the first days of the new season, give others the chance to treasure your unworn and no longer used clothes whilst refreshing your wardrobe. We’ve found some of our most prized items of clothing at swaps, which are a great way to steer clear of fast fashion and avoid spending large sums on mass produced items.

Your €7,50 ticket grants you unlimited entry and swapping privileges, with no faffing around with points systems or maximum item limits. You can drift in and out during a day spent frolicking in our cosy Westerpark neighbourhood; the perfect christening for a crisp Autumn day 🍂

We’ll also have a curated vintage and sample sale alongside the swap (no ticket required) in case you’re in the market for that hard to find, jaw dropping staple jacket; or new statement trousers; or an envy inducing vintage purse!

Your “new” Autumn wardrobe is pending - but made of preloved pieces ready for their new homes 🥹 Can’t wait to see you and your threads there!

The silver lining of a rainy day is that our time spent in the sewing café is cosier than ever 💕 whilst we’re not ready to say our farewells to the sun, we are ready to see in the approaching comfy cosy season again 🍂

Here’s what you can expect from De Steek for the upcoming Autumn months. In addition to new sewing and pattern drawing courses launching again, the café remains open for workshops, sewing packages, crafting, or renting a table for your own project (with or without guidance).

Some BTS from the Baskèts x Arc’teryx ReBIRD upcycling workshop we had the pleasure of hosting a couple of weeks ago.

We loved taking existing pieces and breathing new life into them, harnessing your creativity and craftsmanship to create truly bespoke pieces!

Needing a chill Sunday craft activity to finish off the week 💕

Reminiscing on this chunky knit bag workshop we hosted 🧶 We would love to host more workshops like these! If you have a group activity in mind look no further - our leafy garden and chill café have seen it all, from tufting workshops, to embroidery baby showers, and crafting team buildings.
