Yesterday, we shared that Shurgard is a finalist in the Sustainability and Expansion / Conversion categories at the Awards. Today, we’re pleased to add a third recognition.

Our Swedish colleague Samantha Bergquist has been selected as a finalist for the Manager of the Year Award 2026.

Since joining Shurgard in 2022, Samantha has progressed from Assistant Store Manager to Cluster Manager and District Trainer, combining outstanding operational performance with a clear commitment to supporting and developing colleagues.

A well-deserved recognition of her leadership and contribution to Shurgard.

We’re proud to be finalists in two categories at the Awards, the most prestigious recognition platform in the self-storage industry!

Sustainability: our solar programme was recognised for its scale and long-term impact, with 103 owned stores equipped with solar panels by July 2026. By July 2026, 103 of our owned stores were equipped with solar panels, nearly doubling our solar footprint across Europe in just one year. With the rollout in the UK, Netherlands and Belgium substantially complete, France and Germany are next.

Expansion / Conversion: our Paris 9 – Haussmann – Gare Saint-Lazare facility was shortlisted for a complex conversion project that transformed existing underground infrastructure into a secure, accessible and commercially promising self-storage facility, without new land take.

We look forward to the final judging in September and wish all finalists the best of luck!

We officially opened Shurgard Altrincham in Greater Manchester! Our new building turned out great. Nearly 1,000 units across 4 floors to help local residents and businesses free up some space.

Huge thanks to our store staff for getting everything set up and running smoothly. Our first customers have already moved in today, and the team is ready for a busy week ahead.

Last Thursday, we took part in the 12th edition of the Pico’s Cup, organized by our charity partner Run&Wheels.

This event brings together children and teenagers with physical disabilities to discover adapted sports, connect with others, and experience the true spirit of inclusion.

Exciting news this week! We officially opened our brand-new self-storage facility in the heart of Lille city center.

It’s Earth Day, and Shurgard is taking steps toward a more sustainable future.

We are reducing our impact by improving energy efficiency, expanding solar power across our buildings, and working toward net zero emissions by 2030 for our operations and 2040 across our full value chain.

As cities grow and space becomes more limited, self-storage helps people make better use of space and avoid unnecessary construction. Earth Day is a reminder that consistent action leads to real impact.

Our second Shurgard location is officially open in Eastbourne! This new facility on Lottbridge Drove joins our Hawthorne Road store to provide even more storage space for the local community. With over 800 brand-new units, there is plenty of room for household moves or business stock.

The store team is on-site and ready to help find the right fit. Anyone in the Sussex area is welcome to stop by, meet the staff, and take a look around.

Last Sunday, we returned to Bois de la Cambre for the 2nd edition of Run Together. The goal of the event was to run side by side with children with motor disabilities, using adapted equipment that allows them to participate just like anyone else.

By joining the run and supporting our charity partner Run&Wheels, we helped promote a meaningful cause while sharing a sunny Sunday morning filled with energy and smiles.
