🍊 Mandarin demand is picking up!

With the summer holidays behind us, we’re seeing demand for mandarins increase again.

Coming from Peru, South Africa, Uruguay and Chile, our current selection includes some of the season’s tastiest varieties: Nadorcott, Tango and Orri. Three deep-orange varieties known for their juicy, flavourful character and mostly seedless fruit.

And the season is far from over. We’ll continue receiving mandarins until mid-November, by which time the first new Spanish crop will already be arriving. 🇪🇸

Recently, Alejandro visited our partners in Peru, an important origin for our mandarins, grapes, pomegranates and blueberries. 🍊🍇🫐

The trip was all about catching up with our partners and making plans for the seasons ahead. This year, El Niño is having a major impact. Winter temperatures in Peru have been unusually high, and lower volumes are expected across all four product groups.

Being there in person gives us valuable insights into the local situation and helps us prepare together with our partners for what’s ahead.

🍊 They’ve arrived!

Our first South African Nadorcott mandarins of the season have arrived and are now available for sales. 🇿🇦

After the first harvests in the Messina region and the journey via Durban and Rotterdam, the fruit has now reached our facilities in Breda.

Sweet, juicy and full of fresh citrus flavour, a great start to the South African late mandarin season.

Later in the season, Tango, Orri and MOR will follow from different South African growing regions. We also have Tango and Nadorcott from Peru available this season. 🇵🇪

🥝 Chilean kiwis keeping the season moving.

Chile is becoming an increasingly important supplier in ensuring year-round kiwi availability.

Chilean kiwis are usually harvested from April onwards and arrive in Europe between May and October, bridging the gap between the Northern Hemisphere season and the start of the new European season.

Known for their consistent quality, firm texture and good shelf life, Chilean kiwis are a reliable choice for retail, wholesale and foodservice.

🍊 South African late mandarin season is underway.

The first Nadorcott mandarins have been harvested in the Messina region, with production gradually moving south through Mpumalanga, the Eastern Cape and later the Western Cape.

The first South African volumes will be available from week 29, followed by varieties such as Tango, Orri and MOR later in the season.

From week 29, we will also offer Tango and Nadorcott mandarins from Peru, with arrivals continuing until week 41.

After inspection, every pallet is stored in the right cold room. Each product requires its own storage conditions, so temperature, humidity and ventilation are carefully adjusted to maintain maximum freshness.

Some fruits are even stored separately to prevent ethylene from speeding up the ripening process.

Our cold storage is monitored 24/7, helping us preserve quality, flavour and shelf life until every order leaves our warehouse.
