Did you know the fig season consists of two different harvests?

We start with the early Brevas, available now in both green and black varieties. These larger, early-season figs are followed by the Higos harvest, which brings the highest volumes from late July through November.

From August, premium Turkish figs from the renowned Bursa region also become available, extending the season through October. 🇹🇷

Known for their rich sweetness, soft texture and unique flavour, figs are a true seasonal favourite.

The Polish blueberry season is almost here! 🇵🇱

At the end of this month, we start receiving the first premium blueberries from Poland. The season continues throughout July and August, making Poland the final European origin before we transition to overseas supply from South Africa and Peru. 🫐

This year's crop is expected to be slightly smaller due to weather conditions. However, the berries that are available are looking excellent: firm, crunchy, naturally sweet and packed with flavour. With their attractive bloom, consistent sizing and long shelf life, they're an excellent choice for retail, wholesale and foodservice.

Available in a wide range of packaging options, from 125 g punnets up to 500 g buckets, tailored to different markets and customer needs.

🍒The first premium Dutch cherries have arrived. Available in our Gaudias packaging, with popular varieties including Kordia, Regina and Final.

Known for their deep red colour, firm bite and naturally sweet flavour, our cherries are available in a wide range of sizes, from 24+ up to 34+ mm.

Just before the season started, we visited our trusted Dutch growers. It was great to see the orchards full of promising fruit. Careful harvesting throughout the season allows the remaining cherries to continue growing, resulting in excellent size and quality.

Blueberries vs raspberries. 🫐

Both are popular, but they play a different role in the market.

Blueberries offer stable supply, longer shelf life and consistent quality, making them easier to trade year-round.

Raspberries remain more sensitive and seasonal, with higher costs and more variability in availability.

The first beautiful grapes from Sicily are now arriving, followed by Puglia and the Spanish season starting around late June / early July. 🍇

This gives us a strong summer supply of fresh grapes from both Italy and Spain. Thanks to the warm Mediterranean climate, the grapes develop their characteristic sweet flavour, firm bite and excellent quality.

🍋 Meet the Genoa Lemon.

Originally introduced from Genoa, Italy, this popular lemon variety is known for its compact, thornless trees and typically seedless fruit. 🇮🇹

Today, Genoa lemons are widely grown in Chile and Argentina, where growers value the variety for its cold resistance and strong productivity. 🇨🇱🇦🇷

What makes it special? Its rind contains a high concentration of natural oils, making it perfect for products such as limoncello, while the juice delivers the fresh, tart flavour lemons are loved for.

Ryan recently joined the Wilko Fruit warehouse team. He’s 19 years old and comes from Breda.

So far, his experience at Wilko Fruit has been positive: a good atmosphere in the warehouse and a team that works hard together when needed. He enjoys the fact that every day in the warehouse is different and dynamic.
