The plunger sensor inside your ABC shock absorber is the component that tells the system exactly where the strut is positioned. It measures movement in real time so the system can react and adjust.

When it fails, the system loses position data. And without that data, the ABC system can't do its job.

You may notice:

ABC warning or fault code on the dash
Incorrect or unstable ride height at the rear
Strut not responding correctly despite no visible leak
System defaulting to a fixed ride height

The good news — the sensor is available separately. You don't need to replace the entire strut. Just click it in and the strut is back in action.

⚠️ After replacement, the sensor and strut must be calibrated. Installation by a specialist is required.

The C216 was built for one of the most demanding drivers. The ABC hydraulic suspension is what keeps it that way — perfectly level, corner after corner. When the front strut fails, that feeling disappears fast.

Watch out for:

Car sagging or sitting uneven at the front
Strut leaking, unresponsive, or showing excessive play
Internal plunger sensor fault
ABC warning or fault code on the dash

Left unresolved, a failing strut puts extra load on the entire system — pump, valve block, accumulators. One corner becomes a full system problem.

Important: Always replace struts as a pair and flush the system first. Order together with our ABC Flush Package and save 5%.

The W126 S-Class (1979–1991) is one of the most iconic automobiles ever built. Penned by chief designer Bruno Sacco, it introduced the world to the first production driver's airbag, ABS, and a level of over-engineering that most modern cars still can't match.

This is what kept us busy before the holiday — hand-rebuilding and packing HPF struts for the Mercedes-Benz W116 and W126. One of the rarest hydraulic suspension parts in the classic Mercedes world, rebuilt by hand in the Netherlands and shipped worldwide.

The HPF system is the predecessor of the ABC system — hydraulic suspension that gave the W116 and W126 their legendary composed, planted ride. Finding these parts new is nearly impossible. We rebuild them.
