Hai! This is me!! 👋

Now it's finally time for the international step in my business for real I felt it's also time to really introduce myself again!

Hai! 👋 I'm Cora. Since 2017 I've been the face behind Cora's Knit Knacks. I started from a dream and with pure passion, but it's slowly but surely turning into a real business!!

When I was a child there were two things I used to spend my time on: I was being creative and crafting or I was playing doctor. So, no real big surprise that I ended up working as a nurse!

During my training as a nurse I taught myself to knit, and a little later, in 2012, also to crochet. While I love knitting still, crochet is what makes my heart beat faster and awaken my creative inspiration!

So rather quickly after I felt comfortable with my crochet hook I started my business. The name Cora's Knit Knacks was made up by my husband. The lovely wordplay on knick knacks: Pretty, nice and fun creative products.

🧶 I love crochet and yarn and... well, basically anything and everything to do with crochet and yarn! 😂 I love discovering new yarns and testing them to see how they work up and what sort of projects they're good for.

🌱 Sustainability and a natural source is also very important to me, apart from crochet and yarn. This is why I'm only selling sustainable and eco friendly yarns. But, I mix those with patterns so you'll never have to guess what to make with them! But on a more personal level you'll also see this back in my love for all things nature and natural.

✨️ More and more I'm finding out I'm a deeply spiritual being. Over the last few years I've been discovering my own Human Design more and more. It really helps me to accept myself the way I am. And to rediscover who I really am, apart from all the rules and labels the world has given me. Should you also be into HD: I am a 4/6 MG.

Working on my dreams...

Way back in 2017 I started my business with a small etsy shop with some ready to ship crochet makes. In 2018 I left etsy because of the seller fees and set up my own webshop.

Ever since that moment I've had two big desires: grow my business to the point that I can support other makers and put that business on the global map.

The first dream I've been actively working on since the end of 2024 over at Cora | Je haakvriendin met een duurzame missie 🧶🌱.
At this point I support 4 makers of crochet products like stitch markers and project bags and 13 crochet designers! 🥰

The second part I've been actively working on since this year! I did a huge revamp of the website so that setting it up with multiple languages will be much easier and now that I'm working on putting the last of my exisiting products on there I'm starting to look to the translations and multilingual support.

Because everyone should be able to craft with yarn that doesn't ruin the environment 💛🧶🌱

And then we made it to the last day of 2024!

A year that flew by. With fantastic high's and terrible low's. But at least many crochet projects!

I wish you a good end of the year and all the best for the coming year. That it may be a creative year full of crochet adventures and following your dreams! ❤

I'm off now to go and ship the last order of 2024 and then make plans for 2025 to chase my dreams!

With another 6 freshly translated patterns in my Etsy I have now surpassed the 40 patterns mark!

This means we are roughly 2/3 done with translating all my old patterns and putting them up on Etsy. I am so happy with this!

Did you know that the plan once they're all translated is to bring my old .com domain back to life? Specifically for my non Dutch customers! To begin with only patterns, but in the future I do hope to also start offering kits and more 🧶

So I'm slowly starting to dream about what this shop is going to look like. Which things from my Dutch shop I'll be taking along and which things might be different 🥰

The Wave basket: Mini Wave's bigger brother

Okay, story time...
We don't have a dryer for our laundry. We airdry everything. It's a space thing in our small apartment. So we have many many pegs for hanging our clothes on the lines. They used to be in a bag and the bag broke. So, as a crafter, what do you do? Exactly! Make a new one!

This is the origin story of basket Wave. I designed this basket in 2021 and I am to this day still using the prototype! So it will absolutely last!

Other things you can keep in this basket are unused charging cables, plastic and reusable bags or unused beanies and gloves.
