The BookBindBoutique is a webshop specializing in creating unique modern handbound (note)books. Since then I have not stopped binding books. I am a collector.

I also bind or rebind books and documents to give them a little bit extra or a new life.

My name is Marenne Hoeksema. I was first introduced to handbookbinding at the Willem de Kooning Art Academy in Rotterdam during an ‘Artist Book Workshop’. I started selling my books to people in my surroundings and giving them away as gifts to friends. Because of their enthusiastic response I decided to se

ll them on my own website. I always worked from my bedroom/workroom/storage combo. Since September 2012 I share a beautiful workroom with my roommate, making the creation and storage of my book a lot easier. In April 2013 I decided to move my shop to Etsy in the hopes of reaching a wider and international audience. I dont often buy materials with a purpose in mind. It often happens to be so that I already have all the materials I need for a newly thought up project. I usually create projects around the materials that I already have laying aorund. Mostly, I simply fall in love with materials and really want to work with them. I love unconventional materials like printboards, long playing records, jute sacks, videotapes, etc. I enjoy upcycling old materials and making them into something brand new. I am always open to new exiting projects or collaborations. Are you a designer who knows exactly what you want? Together we can definitely create it! But I can also create the lay-out of artbooks in very small editions myself. Imagine your poetry, (short) proze, photography, artwork, recepies, etc. in several unique hardcover books to give to your friends or to show of. I can also transform your annual report, yearbook, thesis, etc. into a unique work of arts or a durable hardcover book. Or perhaps you would like a unique writingbook, sketchbook or notepad matching your own taste and wishes? Please don’t hesitate to contact me!
