Buying my thickness planer was quite a milestone in my guitar building journey. I’d pulled the trigger on a machine that wouldn’t even properly fit through my front door. So within 15 weeks I’d have to find a bigger workshop. Now a few years later I’m still so very happy every time I get to use this machine - makes my work so much easier and more accurate as well!

On tips, tricks, and workshop favorites:
Dunlop 02 - this definitely is my favorite product for prepping fretboards. Gives the rosewood a wonderfully dark hue and does something with the oil balance inside the wood according to the specs. Love it! Have tried other products that claim to do the same but this is my favorite 😊

Sanding bodies is one of the more physically demanding jobs I need to do whilst building guitars. Fingerprints wear down if I don’t tape up properly 😅 very, very rewarding though when working down the grits! Whenever I start up sanding with 120 everything looks scratchy, after sanding up to 600 grit the wood is clear and clean. Almost a shame to cover up all those little detail - luckily there is always the next piece of wood to start salivating over 🤩
