Spotlight: Jasmijn van Buytene

In this series we will be putting you (our followers) in the spotlight. This time we will be putting a spotlight on and her work!

My work is similar to my character, I don’t enjoy to do just one thing. I have many interests that I like to follow which is why I never marketed myself into one direction. To me photography is a tool to interact with others in a way I would never do without it, and to see the world in a different way. Initially I studied Psychology but made a late career change after somebody allowed to let me try their medium format film camera and so my journey began. I quit my masters and started to develop my practice from absolute zero. I believe in having a ‘long breath’ and continuing to stand tall in your beliefs. The work I enjoy the most is when conceptual, documentary and fashion comes together. Usually this comes by working with artists and simultaneously the work of artists inspires me in the way I shoot and develop ideas. As a photographer you are also never just one thing. Feel free to come say hi, I am always up for a chat.

In this series we will be putting you guys (our followers) in the spotlight. This time we will be putting a spotlight on and his work!

David van Dartel (1995) is a Dutch photographer based in Rotterdam. Having grown up in a small village in the countryside, his love of portraiture and landscape photography evolved naturally while he explored the fields and forests around him. His visual aesthetic is gentle yet atmospheric, with emotive photographs that depict the power of intimacy in our relationships.

Spotlight: Jean-Pierre van den Akker

In this series we will be putting you guys (our followers) in the spotlight. This them we will be putting a spotlight on .pointandshoot and his work!

Honestly, I sometimes still don’t fully know what I’m doing.
But time and time again, I get energy from the moment I capture something or when I see the result for the first time, even if it’s just one frame from an entire roll of film.

Analog photography remains, for me, the purest form of photography.

My name is Jean-Pierre, 34 years old, based in Nijmegen.
I hope you can appreciate my work. Photowalk?

Martin Parr was a British documentary photographer, known for his uniquely colorful and humorous way of observing and photographing everyday life. His work often led others to criticize him, arguing that he was making fun of the middle class rather than merely documenting it.

“My photography is an observation of the Western world’s middle classes and their endless quest for material abundance.”

He drew inspiration from the world around him. By focusing on ordinary people and the most mundane situations, he encouraged viewers to reflect on how deeply society is absorbed by consumption. Parr had a talent for transforming scenes that might seem boring at first glance into striking images that made people think.

Parr published around a hundred books; among his most notable works are The Last Resort, Common Sense, and Small World. Although he eventually became one of the most respected documentary photographers, and later chairman of the renowned Magnum Photo, his arrival at Magnum was controversial. Some members strongly disagreed with his inclusion and even considered leaving the collective because they felt his approach clashed with Magnum’s tradition.

In his later years he was diagnosed with cancer, yet he often said that photography was what kept him going. Martin Parr lived to be 73 years old (23 May 1952 – 6 December 2025).
