Join us for the Book Launch of DESET! by Laura Snijders

DESET! is a card game by Laura Snijders presented during the Ondertussen exhibition in Stroom in 2021. The game had no rules to start with. The players created the rules which resulted in a different game every time. Snijders observed the players and the way they dealt with a game without rules. The games that were played are now bundled in the artist's book DESET!. The book is a research into rules; how to set them and how to let go of them. The artist is interested in the creativity and social interaction that is involved in this process.

The book is for sale during the launch for €60,- and will be available afterwards in the bookshop.

cosmic latte is not a fancy coffee. it’s the average color of the universe. but the color code is not the focus of this book. it’s the poetic potential of science and outer space which is explored in this work. the visual possibilities of poetry deepen the dialogue between the written word and our associations of imagining the world. earth, cosmos, man, space exploration, earth observation, climate, weather – these topics can be paralyzing regarding their scale, yet at the same time, they open a door to intimate imagination. fiction becomes a link between the abstract and the personal to reflect on such topics in relation to the human body as a perceptual center between micro and macrocosm. text fragments of one part fusing into text fragments of another part and vice versa.
