Stochelo uses the Opus/5 to play a mesmerizing improvisation on Django Reinhardt's piece, "Castle" (Manoir de mes Rêves), proving just how beautifully this vintage-style archtop responds to master-level gypsy. Hearing him apply his signature vibrato and speed to a carved acoustic archtop creates a uniquely rich tonal palette. Scharpach modernized this 20th-century concept using rare, wild-grown 30-year-old figured flamed maple and a premium German spruce top. The result is an incredibly light, resonant 17-inch instrument that retains a 21st-century clarity and immense sustain.

Not without proud I present the new nylon string crossover Archtop. A nylon string clearly not for classical players but for those other who just love to play a great nylon string guitar.
It took me 6 months or more to come to a design concept of which I thought may work. Although building mostly nylon string guitars in the first 15-20 years of my career I studied the great Italian masters of violin making. The most famous books were : Die Kunst des Geigenbaues, Möckel -Winkel and “the Secrets of Stradivari, Simone F. Sacconi. Not to copy which is simply impossible but to understand there thoughts behind their unique design concept: The curves in relationship to the thickness of the plates.
Therefor I am so pleased that the Sunbird Vienna will be owned by no other great player then Wolfgang Muthspiel. He has an impressive career as a nylon string Jazz player.

The very nice new nylon string Archtop: The SunBird Vienna. It took about 6 months or more to design. The sound is acoustically impressive. Wolfgang Muthspiel is the owner of the Sunbird VIenna and for sure this makes me very proud: could not wish me a better owner. Sound samples will follow soon.
