It is the background track of your excistence”. In 1993 ging Minstrel Music van start met het in- en verkopen van elpees en cd’s. Allereerst via platenbeurzen en vanaf 1996 vanuit de winkel aan de Assendorperstraat in Zwolle. Ons aanbod bestaat vooral uit vinyl, zowel tweede hands als nieuw. Tot onze grote vreugde groeit de laatste jaren het aanbod nieuw vinyl gestaag. Naast al het zwarte goud heb
ben we het nodige aan muziekboeken en dvd’s staan. We proberen een zo breed mogelijk aanbod neer te zetten. Genres als soul/funk, hiphop, jazz, blues, progressive rock, folk, beat, garage, punk, new wave/no wave, indie, postrock, dance etc etc zijn volop voorradig. Naast de hoofdmoot LP’s en singles proberen we wat de cd betreft een zo interessant mogelijk aanbod neer te zetten. Behalve de meer gebruikelijke titels zoveel mogelijk kleine, onafhankelijke (reissue)labels. Sinds 2007 hebben we ook een eigen platenlabel. Hier brengen we artiesten uit Zwolle en omgeving op uit. Het is mooi om te merken dat er lokaal ontzettend veel goeie bands rond lopen. Mocht er echter iets waanzinnigs op ons pad komen vanuit de andere kant van de aardbol.. Hey… de wereld is toch al klein geworden… Wanneer de muziek met bezieling gemaakt wordt willen we dit aan zoveel mogelijk mensen op deze aardkloot laten horen. Al jaren zijn er instore optredens en release-feestjes. In 2009 zijn we in samenwerking met geestverwanten als Cafe de Singel, SCV Eureka, Goudsteeg21 en Hedon begonnen met het organiseren van concerten onder de vlag Legendary Minstrel Sessions. Fraaie bands als Spidergawd, Dead Meadow, Phosphorescent, Fuchsia, Lisa O Piu, Me and My Kites, Siena Root, The Belle Game, The Good Hand, Jouis, Kikagaku Moyo, In Gowan Ring, Endless Boogie, Ill Wicker, Moulettes, Eerie wanda, Nap Eyes, Samantha Crain, Emaline Delapaix, Constantie, Trappist Afterland en vele anderen hebben ons prachtige avonden bezorgd. Sinds 2013 organiseren we ook jaarlijks mede het Minstrel Festival in schone wijk Assendorp in onze stad. English version:
In 1993 Minstrel Music started with buying and selling albums and CDs. First through record fairs and from 1996 on we have our store in the Assendorperstraat in Zwolle. We sell mainly vinyl, both second hand as new. To our great joy in recent years vinyl release is growing steadily. In addition to all black gold, we have the necessary music on cd , books and DVD's. Our cd section has constantly sale offers. On vinyl we have the widest possible range. Genres as soul, funk, hip-hop, jazz, blues, progressive rock, psychedelic, folk, beat, garage, punk, new wave/no wave, indie, post rock, dance etc etc we have plenty in stock. Besides the more usual and obvious (maybe even commercial) titles we have a large section of the little, independent and private labels. Also large section reissues. Since 2007 we also have a own record label. We release acts from Zwolle and surroundings. It's nice to notice that there are a lot of inspiring local bands. If, however, something from far far away crosses our path... Hey, it’s a small worl after all. When the music is created with inspiration, we want this to be heard by as many people as possible. For years there are in-store performances and release parties. In 2009 we started organizing concerts in collaboration with kindred spirits like Café de Singel, SCV Eureka, Goudsteeg21 and Hedon, under the banner Legendary Minstrel Sessions. Great bands like Spidergawd, Dead Meadow, Phosphorescent, Fuchsia, Lisa O Piu, Me and My Kites, Siena Root, The Belle Game, The Good Hand, Kikagaku Moyo, Jouis, In Gowan Ring, Endless Boogie, Ill Wicker, Moulettes, Eerie Wanda, Nap Eyes, Samantha Crain, Mike Delapaix, Constantine, Trappist Afterland and many others have given performances we will not easily forget.
