Guitar Building. This page contains info, photos, videos etc about guitar building. Hi! My name I Tom Furuheim and welcome to my world of guitar building.

As with many other guitar builders, I started this venture as a hobby. When my son was about 4years old, he found my old classic guitar and started plucking away on it. It wasn’t long before he played melodies, so I showed him a few cords and that was the beginning of his career as a guitar player. My interest in guitar making started some years later when he picked up the electric guitar. We star

ted out by purchasing readymade guitar parts and putting them together. We did that for some time, and had a lot of fun together doing it! When I bought a 1973 Martin D35 he was over the moon with joy and could not wait to get his hands on it. But I’m sad to say the guitar was not what any of us expected. The sound and playability wasn’t there. It was kind of a dead guitar. And Chris said:” I think you can build a better guitar then this!” And that was the trigger that started it all. I spent a year reading and studying acoustic guitars and how to build them. There was a lot of planning and getting all the right tool together and finally, in 2011 I set up shop, and in 2012 Pinehome Guitars was born. Norway is very small in the guitar building world, so I started looking for materials outside of Norway. I finally ended up buying top quality materials from now a good friend the US. I ended up making 3 models and a total of 26 acoustic guitars before I stopped. Somethings in my life changed, and the passion went away. So I ended up selling most of my tools and closed shop. A year or so later, my cousin, who is a fantastic guitarist, a sound engineer and a well known figure in the music scene in Rogaland, asked me if I could make him a Telecaster. He had started a reggea band, and needed a cool guitar to go with it! So I made him a sweet tele with a very nice flame maple top and painted it in the colors of the rasta flag. Not long after that, my best fiend, and an amazing guitar player also wanted a tele! So I made him one as well! (They now both have about 7 or 8 of my guitars)
So that’s where the electric era of Pinehome Guitars started. I’m now situated in a new workshop making guitars and befriending many great musicians doing so! It’s a very rewarding hobby that has become a big part of my life. So I must shout out a big thank you to all you guitarists out there for trusting me into making you your instruments! Without you guys, this would not be possible! It’s a great honor! And also to my son Christoffer, who forever will be my greatest inspiration! And for always giving me the hardest critiques of my work and by doing so, pushes me forward to make even better instruments! Thank you Chris. Tom “Pinehome” Furuheim
