Learing the basics of magic
Tarnów, Violinex

From 2011 I used to repair guitars there. I already knew a thing or two myself, and I learned a lot about stringed instruments in that place.

The guitar is a relatively new instrument, mainly an industrial product. Violins, in their masterful form, have remained unchanged. The recipes have stayed the same for hundreds of years.. They have slightly different shapes and constructions, but to this day they are made almost the same way by different masters.

So.. when I started to tear down those instruments on the daily basis and, for example, came across the first genuinely good varnish recipe, I started looking in books and old records for other historical approaches and delving into their secrets. The deeper I went, the more fascinated I became. My curiosity grew into an almost obsessive passion for understanding these old techniques and uncovering the knowledge hidden in them. I went through libraries, archival descriptions of resins, polishes, constructions, structual stress and its distribution, mechanical impedance..

Few years later, in Oslo, I perfected my own varnish for acoustic guitars, figured out my own guitar constructions and continued to learn a lot more :)

New bone nut for semihollow Raven

This is very common upgrade in my workshop. This one was originally made from cheap plastic, so the owner wanted something more durable. In my opinion bone is the answear. This materiał is hard, dense and slighlty selflubricated, so the strings glide more efficiently through the slots, especially during heavy bending.

It is actually very interesting topic in terms of sustain and energy transfer. The bone creates a barrier that reflects the energy and forces it to remain within the string.

In my guitar designs I actually use bone or sometimes brass for bass ;)

The S90 is a sidewound humbucker. Although it's originally designed to fit standard P90 routes, it ended up inside a Jazzmaster cover.

Dziś i jutro jestem na .guitar.festival w .hall

Przywiozłem swoje gitary i pickupy, więc jeśli macie ochotę rzucić okiem, pograć, pogadać to szukajcie mnie, a znajdziecie - jestem zaraz przy jednym z wejść :)
A swoją drogą to warto tu być dla koncertów, które będą trwały dziś i jutro, nawet na dachu..

Moja pracownia na dobre zadomowiła się już w Polsce. Choć zmieniły się współrzędne geograficzne po przeprowadzce z Norwegii, to wasze zaufanie pozostało. Dzięki Wam za to ;)

Dziś historia konkretnego Fendera Stratocastera USA.

Pierwszy raz instrument ten trafił do mnie 7 lat temu. Wtedy zainstalowałem w nim autorski minihumbucker pod mostem. Gitara zyskała pazur, a właściciel brzmienie, którego szukał.

Po latach znów odwiedziła mój warsztat, ale tym razem już w Polsce na totalną metamorfozę. Czas i intensywne granie odcisnęły swoje piętno, więc nie było miejsca na półśrodki.
Gryf musiał przejść korektę radiusa, bo czas i naprężenia wprowadziły delikatne odkształcenia.
Progi.. postawiliśmy na pancerny standard - stal nierdzewna Jescar 55090. Przy okazji wykonałem również customowe markery oraz nowe siodełko z kości, poprawiłem mocowanie gryfu z korpusem, aby transfer drgań był jeszcze lepszy.

Ten minihumbucker z 2019 roku był tak mocny, że nieco przykrywał fabryczne single. Właściciel zdecydował się więc na pełną spójność czyli parę moich autorskich singli VintageSpark. Teraz współpracują z mostem w idealnym balansie ;)

Łapcie kilka zdjęć, a dla dociekliwych dorzucam też pomiary przetworników, żebyście mogli zobaczyć, co tam siedzi pod maską.

Today, a story about a USA Fender Strat.

This Strat first hit my bench 7 years ago. Back then, I installed one of my custom mini-humbucker at the bridge. The guitar gained some serious bite, and the owner found the exact tone he was looking for.

Years later, it jumped back on my bench but this time in Poland for a major overhaul. Time and heavy playing had left their mark, so there was no room for compromises. The neck needed a radius correction because of some slight warping. Frets... we went with the bulletproof standard Jescar 55090 stainless steel. While I was at it, I also made custom inlays, a new bone nut, and improved the neck-to-body joint for better resonance.

That 2019 mini-humbucker was so powerful it was overshadowing the factory single coils. So, the owner chose complete consistency and picked a pair of my custom VintageSpark singles. Now they are perfectly balanced with the bridge pickup ;)
