MONDO

MONDO Mondo is an independent, artist-run initiative that focuses on art publications, fanzines, and print

Mondo Books is an independent, artist-run book platform that focuses on art publications, fanzines, and printed matter, mainly from young and newly established artists from North. We carry Animals, IMA READ, MONARCH, Torpedo Press, BBOOKS, Lubok Verlag, amongst many others. Alongside book distribution, we also host events, readings, performances and spatial installations. Mondo plays an important role in both the local scene as well as on the national level, since it is the only independent art book platform and distributor in the Northern region. Mondo is run by Tanya Busse, Marion Bouvier, and Nicolas Siepen. We currently have our Mondo Bookstore at the Tromsø Kunstforening, where we also run a risograph studio. In November 2020 we organized the first edition of the Arctic Art Book Fair at Alfheim Swimhall, Tromsø (info here: https://www.arcticartbookfair.com/about/). The next edition will take place in Nuuk, Greenland, in autumn 2025.

Mondo is proud to present our newest publication: Blok P by Carsten Aniksdal and Tone Huse, with contributing texts by Nicholas Norton and Inge Bisgaard. Designed by Kaja Krakowian and Petri Henriksson at Blank Blank Studio and edited by Tanya Busse. The book is bilingual in English and Kalaallisut. Available at Mondo Books and NordNorsk Kunstmuseum (with more point of sales to come in the Oslo area) 💙

Blok P is a visual and textual descent from bird’s-eye to demolition dust: it begins with the tearing down of Nuuk’s most iconic housing block that once stood in the middle of town, about everyday joys and the richness of children playing in the hallways, but also about Nordic colonialism - about how it has shaped and continues to shape everyday life, urban landscapes and relationships between people.

Big thank you to UrbTrans at UiT, Tromsø Research Foundation, the Research Council, the Norwegian Non-Fiction Writers and Translators Association - NFFO, the Fritt Ord Foundation, the Norwegian Arts Council and Nofofo for the support 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤

🇬🇱❤️🖤 We are very happy to launch the second edition of the Arctic Art Book Fair ✨ The Arctic Art Book Fair- Nuuk- will open it´s doors tonight at Nuutoqaq 🇬🇱❤️🖤

The fair brings together brilliant circumpolar artists working with art books, independent and small scale publishers.

Here you can see the full list of participants (which includes an incredible list of local and international publishers and artists) our public program, and details on the events themselves.
Thank you to everyone who helped so far. We´re so very excited to share all of the labours of love ❤️

The 2025 program features guests, writers and thinkers that are involved with books and storytelling from Kalaallit Nunaat, the circumpolar North and beyond, curated by Mondo Books and presented in-person at several locations during the book fair. The 2025 book fair's main venue is Nuutoqaq in Nuuk....

Great news coming from Hakapik.no! Hakapik and new editor Carina Beddari have started a new initiative on artist books and non-fiction about art- this is much needed- as there´s so little written on/about these types of publications. We look forward to what´s to come! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Open Call Kalaallit Nunaat/ Greenland 🇬🇱❤️🖤

Good news! We are heading into the second edition of the bookfair ❤️ The Nuuk 2025 Arctic Art Book Fair will take place 23-26 October 2025 in Nuuk. It’s the second edition of the concept, which started in Tromsø in 2020, and is run by MONDO Books ( and Marion Bouvier), in collaboration with Nunatta Atuagaateqarfia / Central Library of Greenland, Katti Fredriksen and Sørine Steenholdt. The book fair will take place as part of the Suialaa Arts Festival, and will be located in Nuutoqaq.
The aim of the book fair is to promote and distribute art books, literature, book-objects and other stories from around the circumpolar North, with a focus on Indigenous, feminist, q***r and artistic books. Specifically for the Nuuk edition, we want to highlight storytelling and publications from all over Kalaallit Nunaat/Greenland.

If you have a novel, children’s book, art book, academic publication, vinyl, cassette, CD, or other forms of stories in a material form that you would like to feature at the book fair, please write to us an email at [email protected]
