It was great catching up with people at the recent Equifest Horse event in Taupo last month. I received many comments on the rocking horses and wild animals on display. At times my stand was turning into a crèche with every rocker having a child on it, many smiling faces and some tears when parents took their child off. I will definitely be back next year.

Want to see some horses and other rocking animals then come to the Home and Lifestyle Show in Whanganui on the weekend of 9th & 10th August 2025. Come and talk to me and hear all the options available to create a family heirloom or just something to fully enjoy by all the family. Yes I have horses for all ages from infants to adults, pop along and have a chat.
Do you have an old Rocking Horse in need of some TLC and want to challenge yourself to do a restoration then I can help with that also, from glass eyes, to horse hair in a variety of colours to saddles, bridles and stands.

I would like you to meet this little fella who has recently joined the stables at The Rocking Horse Place. This was a kind of commission for a customer who's daughter loved Giraffes. I already have a Giraffe but he is bigger, far too big for a 18mth child. So I drew up a baby giraffe based on a small rocking horse. It was great creating him (or her) and I did not want to let him go. He was attached to a bow rocker but could be put on a swing rocker. Not 100% happy with the tail, but will work on that for the next one. The final addition was the eyelashes which just added that little bit extra cuteness.

Recently renovated 1920 Vintage Ayres Rocking Horse for a client who were delighted with the result. Horse was stripped of old paint (not original), layers of Gesso added, new paint, new saddle, bridle, tail, mane, eyes are original. The swing stand was damaged and this was repaired and made stronger than when it was originally made, re stained, and also treated for Borer helping to retain the original timber. Pretty pleased with the result. The Rocking Horse Place is all booked in to attend this years premier Equine event at Taupo, New Zealand on the 17 -19th October. Orders can be taken and picked up at the event or come along to see the display and discuss your Rocking Horse requirements and check out the rocking Wild animals. Some of the display Rocking Horses/Wild animals will be available for purchase and taken away at the show. Details will follow over the coming months.
