Waiōrea Community Recycling Centre

We had two birthdays to celebrate at Waiōrea CRC last Sunday, with Aria and Mathilde both marking their special day!

Every person in our team plays an important part in what we do, and we’re incredibly grateful for all the hard work they put in. We also make sure we take the time to celebrate the special milestones together.

Of course, birthdays also mean cake... and somehow nobody seems too busy for that. 😂

Happy Birthday, Aria and Mathilde!

We’ve made a few changes to our donation drop-off area to help get more of your preloved goodies back into use and keep even more out of landfill.

Our new system has clear categories so you can sort your donations when you arrive. It means our team can process everything more efficiently, helping more items be reused or recycled and reducing waste.

Next time you drop by, simply follow the categories and pop your donations in the right spot. Easy!

With Father’s Day just around the corner, we’ve set up a special board for you to share something you love about your dad or a special father figure in your life.

Write it on a Post-it note, add it to our board and we’ll give you a FREE book or soft toy voucher to use in our shop.

Let's fill the board with a whole lot of love this Father’s Day!

Our After School Upcycled Art Workshops have become a weekly favourite for many of our young creatives, and the parents’ feedback says it all!

“It’s the highlight of my child’s week. It’s such a warm, welcoming environment where they can be themselves and get creative.”

“It’s been wonderful seeing my child discover a creative side we hadn’t seen before.”

“It gives children the space to explore, build creative confidence and enjoy time away from devices and distractions.”

Our regulars keep coming back each week, but there’s still room for a few new faces! Register here:

Our volunteers are at the heart of the zero waste movement here at Waiōrea Community Recycling Centre. They bring different skills, backgrounds and experiences, giving their time, sharing their knowledge and building connections along the way.

The impact reaches beyond our gates too. By working with other community organisations, we can support people in need while helping useful resources find a second life instead of going to landfill.
