We’ve spoken to plenty of people who thought they simply weren’t getting along with CPAP, when the real issue was that their mask wasn’t quite right for them.

There are so many different mask styles available, and what works brilliantly for one person might not suit someone else.

In this video, I talk about why we spend so much time helping people find the right mask, and the little things that can make a big difference to comfort.

💬 What CPAP mask are you currently using, and what do you like or dislike about it? I’d love to hear your experience in the comments.

💬 "I almost gave up on CPAP."

I hear that more often than you'd think.

The good news? Most people don't need a whole new setup—they just need the right tweak.

Sometimes it's the mask.
Sometimes it's the humidity.
Sometimes it's something surprisingly simple.

▶️ Watch to see why.

🔧 Is your CPAP mask leaking?

One of the most common mistakes I see is people tightening their mask more and more to try and stop leaks.

It seems logical...

Mask leaks → tighten the straps → problem solved.

But surprisingly, that often makes the leak worse.

Most CPAP masks are designed so the cushion gently sits against your face and creates a seal using the air pressure from the machine. When the mask is pulled too tight, the cushion can flatten, distort, and actually start leaking more.

If you've noticed you're needing to tighten your mask more than you used to, it can sometimes be a sign that the cushion is simply worn out and due for replacement.

A comfortable mask should generally feel secure — not overly tight.

Have you ever found yourself tightening your mask to stop leaks? Let me know in the comments.

One thing nobody really tells you before starting CPAP...

Not every night will feel perfect.

Some nights you'll sleep amazingly. Other nights might feel a little off. That's completely normal.

A rough night here and there doesn't mean your CPAP isn't working, and it definitely doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong.

Most of the time, it just means a small adjustment is needed.

Have you ever had a night on CPAP where things just didn't feel quite right?

Is your CPAP suddenly sounding louder than usual? 😴🔊

Before assuming your machine is faulty… it’s worth checking a few common things first.

Most of the time, unusual CPAP noise is actually caused by:

✔️ Mask leaks
✔️ Worn cushions
✔️ Loose hose connections

A quick way to tell:
If the sound changes when you breathe, move, or adjust your mask — it’s usually a leak.

If the noise is constant and coming directly from the machine itself, then it may be worth getting checked.

The good news?

In many cases, noisy CPAP therapy is a simple fix — and getting on top of it can make your therapy far more comfortable.

CPAP felt perfect… then suddenly uncomfortable the next night? 🤔

Before assuming something’s wrong with your machine — here are the first things we’d check:

✅ 1. Your mask fit
If it’s shifting, leaking, or suddenly needs tightening, your cushion may be wearing out.

✅ 2. Leaks or mouth breathing
Even small leaks can cause dryness, noise, and reduced comfort.

✅ 3. Changes in sleep position or congestion
Sleeping differently, blocked sinuses, or extra movement can all impact how therapy feels.

✅ 4. Humidity settings
A simple humidity adjustment can make a huge difference, especially with weather or seasonal changes.

👉 Most of the time, CPAP suddenly feeling “off” isn’t a major issue —
it’s usually just one small adjustment.

Better sleep often comes down to better optimisation.

Dry mouth on CPAP? You’re definitely not alone. 😴

Waking up with a dry mouth is one of the most common issues we see — but the good news is, it usually doesn’t mean CPAP isn’t working.

Most of the time, it comes down to:

• Mouth breathing
• Not enough humidity
• Mask or mouth leaks

Even small leaks can dry you out quickly by letting moisture escape before it gets where it needs to go.

A few simple things can often make a big difference:

✔ Increase humidity gradually
✔ Consider heated tubing
✔ Check your mask seal and cushion condition
✔ Review headgear tension
✔ Consider a chin strap or full face mask if mouth breathing
✔ Stay hydrated and consider saline or oral moisturisers

The key? Dry mouth usually means your therapy just needs a small adjustment — not a complete overhaul.

Better comfort often means better sleep 😊

Waking up with a dry mouth on CPAP?

That’s usually a clue — not a failure.

Most of the time, dry mouth comes down to:

✔ Mouth breathing
✔ Not enough humidity
✔ Mask leaks

Even small leaks can let moisture escape before it reaches where it’s needed.

So if increasing humidity hasn’t fully fixed it… your mask fit or setup may need adjusting.

Dry mouth doesn’t usually mean CPAP isn’t working.

More often, it means a small tweak could make a big difference.

Do you actually need a CPAP battery? 🤔

It’s one of those things most people don’t really think about… until they need it.

If you’re travelling, heading somewhere off-grid, or even just thinking about power outages — having a backup can make a big difference to your sleep (and peace of mind).

Not something everyone needs — but definitely worth understanding.

I’ve broken it down in this video 👍

Comfort on CPAP often comes down to one thing: choosing the right mask.

Different breathing styles and sleeping positions need different mask designs — and guessing can lead to leaks, discomfort, and broken sleep.

That’s why we’ve created a free CPAP Mask Guide to help you choose the right option before you buy.
