Today we're heading to France for a month to spend some much-needed time with family. ❤️
This past year has been one of the hardest we've experienced. Laurent's road accident and long hospital stay changed so much for our family, and more recently we lost his dear father while we were on the other side of the world, unable to be there with him. Like many of you, we've learnt that sometimes life throws everything at you at once.
Through it all, I've been doing my very best to support Laurent, our kids, and our wonderful teams in Parnell and Onehunga. Many of our team have also been carrying their own family challenges, reminding me that everyone has a story we don't always see.
More than anything, this year has shown me how extraordinary our VANIYE family truly is. I couldn't be more grateful for the people I work alongside every day. They care deeply about one another, they step in without being asked, they work with heart, and they continue to give their very best, even when life is challenging.
For me, VANIYE has never just been about beautiful cakes, pastries and chocolates. It's about helping our people grow, giving them the confidence to learn, allowing them to make mistakes, and reminding them that someone believes in them. That means not everything will be perfect every single time, but that's how skills, confidence, and passion are built. Watching our team grow into skilled professionals is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
While I'm away, I know you'll be in wonderful hands. Thank you for supporting our little patisserie, for trusting us with your special moments, and for always showing us kindness and understanding.
Now it's my turn to slow down, recharge, and reconnect with family. ❤️ I'll still be sharing little moments from France from time to time...
Sonia.
