Zero-10 Beyblade X Tournament Auckland | Season 3 | Results!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for today's Zero 10 Tournament!

This event was played under BCS Zero, our unrestricted format where every legal Takara Tomy Beyblade X part is available. With the release of Glory Valkyrie, this tournament allowed everyone to put the newest release to the test and see whether it could live up to the hype.

The level of play was incredibly high from the very first round. There were plenty of upsets throughout the day, but what stood out even more was the sportsmanship shown by everyone. Win or lose, players kept things positive, respected their opponents, and helped make this one of the best atmospheres we've had at a BBNZ tournament.

👑 SWISS KING

Vyrxzavier Fumio Antipolo delivered a flawless qualifying performance, finishing 6 - 0 to claim Swiss King and secure the number one seed heading into the finals.

Although his tournament ended earlier than expected in the playoffs, another undefeated Swiss run is an incredible achievement and further cements him as one of BBNZ's strongest competitors.

Tom Penny continues his incredible form, capturing his second BBNZ gold medal of 2026. Another composed performance throughout the finals saw him finish the day with a commanding 4 to 0 victory in the Grand Final.

Tom continues to prove why he's one of the players everyone has to beat.

Welcome back!

After several months away from competition, JM returned in style. Qualifying eighth before fighting his way through the playoffs all the way to the Grand Final was an outstanding effort and one of the biggest stories of the day.

Ryan continues his remarkable consistency, once again finding himself on the BBNZ podium with another strong tournament performance.

A huge welcome back goes to JM Bondoc, Kieran Hollis, and Trent Lankshear, who all returned after extended breaks from competitive Beyblade.

Seeing experienced players return and immediately perform at such a high level made today's tournament even more exciting.

Congratulations also to Arthur Cameron, who reached another Top 4 finish after a strong qualifying performance.

A special mention goes to Frank Briggs, who continues to impress despite being one of the youngest competitors in the BBNZ community. Another Top 8 finish against a field filled with experienced players shows just how quickly he's developing.

Today's story was one of returning competitors making an immediate impact, familiar faces continuing their consistency, new players joining the community, and a tournament played in the true spirit of competition.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our Beyblade X 3rd Year Anniversary Tournament Auckland | Season 3

To celebrate three years since Beyblade X launched in Japan on 15 July 2023, we wanted to pay tribute to where it all began.

For the first half of the tournament, players competed in our special Day 1 Format, using only the original four Beyblades released on launch day.

🔹 Wizard Arrow 4-80B (BX-03)
🔹 Knight Shield 3-80N (BX-04)

Along with the ratchets and bits from those releases, players had just 12 legal parts to build from before returning to full BCS Zero for the second half of the tournament.

It was a chance to go back to where Beyblade X started. With only the original launch day Beyblades available, players had to rely on their understanding of the fundamentals rather than the latest releases. It was great seeing everyone embrace the format, adapt throughout the day, and prove that strong players can perform no matter what format they're given.

While this was our smallest tournament since our second-ever BBNZ event, it also gave us an opportunity we don't often get.

With 12 players, we were able to expand the qualifying stage from our usual six rounds to nine rounds of Swiss, giving everyone significantly more matches, more opportunities to adapt, and more value from their entry fee.

Our original plan was to continue all the way to 12 rounds of Swiss. However, after nine rounds it was determined that any additional rounds would begin producing inaccurate Swiss rankings, so we concluded the qualifying stage there to preserve the integrity of the standings.

That also meant we had enough time to run an additional social single elimination tournament, giving everyone even more Beyblade throughout the day.

The size of a tournament doesn't define the quality of the experience. Sometimes fewer players simply means more games, more opportunities to learn, and more Beyblade for everyone.

👑 SWISS KING

Owen Garrett put together an outstanding qualifying performance, finishing 8 and 1 to claim Swiss King before carrying that momentum all the way through the finals.

After consistently being one of BBNZ's top competitors, Owen finally secured his first gold medal of 2026, making this a well deserved victory.

⭐ Tournament Highlights

A special mention goes to Kayla Loberg, who made an impressive BBNZ debut by reaching the Top 4.

After playing Beyblade during the Plastic Generation era as a kid, this was her first competitive Beyblade tournament in many years. To return after all that time and immediately make the Top 4 was a fantastic achievement.

Congratulations also to Arul Gaundar, who won our social single elimination tournament and earned himself a free entry into the next BBNZ tournament.

We're back tomorrow for another BBNZ tournament, and if this event reminded us of anything, it's that every tournament has its own story.

Sometimes it's a player earning their first gold medal of the year.

Sometimes it's a returning Blader making an incredible debut.

Sometimes it's a chance to revisit where Beyblade X began and rediscover just how much fun those original Beyblades still are.

🔴George Hunter West successfully defends Rank #2 at 600 EXP.

As many players know, George is currently away on a five month training journey with the legendary Beyblade Senseis of Mount Fuji. While Ryan has taken control of the throne, George's absence means he has not been able to earn EXP during this period. The question now is whether Ryan can build a lead large enough to survive George's eventual return.

🔴 Shane Laurie successfully defends Rank #3 and continues closing the gap on the leaders with 580 EXP.

🔴 Alex Billings successfully defends Rank #4 and continues to hold position inside the S Class battle zone despite pressure from below.

The top four remain unchanged, but the gap between them continues to shift.

Thanks to everyone who competed at the Back to Zero! Beyblade X Tournament Auckland | Season 3

BCS Zero is our unrestricted format. No banned parts, no restricted parts, just the full Beyblade X parts pool available under official Takara Tomy rules.

For the first time in years, we were able to run a full round robin format. Thanks to everyone getting their registrations in the night before, our volunteers stepping up to cover multiple roles throughout the day, and the right number of competitors attending, every player had the opportunity to face every other player in their group before the finals.

It meant more games, more opportunities to adapt, and a much better test of consistency across the entire day.

Shane finished the Swiss rounds with an impressive 7 wins and 1 loss, earning himself another Swiss King title.

It feels like every time Shane enters a tournament, he's right near the top of the standings. His ability to adapt to different formats and metas continues to make him one of the toughest players to face.

A 7-1 Swiss record is no easy feat, especially in a format where every decision matters.

Ryan adds another BBNZ tournament victory to his resume.

When Ryan is on form, he's one of the hardest players in the community to stop. He fought through a competitive field and then capped off the day with a dominant 4-0 victory over Shane Laurie in the Grand Final.

The scoreline doesn't tell the whole story. Getting through a field filled with experienced players is never easy, but Ryan managed to stay composed throughout the day and walk away with the gold.

Shane's day started with a Swiss King performance and finished with a Grand Final appearance.

Going 7-1 in Swiss and making the finals is an excellent result by any standard. While the tournament win slipped away this time, Shane once again proved why he's consistently considered one of BBNZ's strongest competitors.

If you're aiming to win a BBNZ event, chances are you'll have to get through Shane at some point.

Owen quietly put together one of the strongest performances of the day.

He finished second in his Swiss group with a 6-2 record before fighting his way onto the podium with a third place finish.

What stands out about Owen is his consistency. He doesn't always get the spotlight, but he continues to put himself in positions to succeed and this tournament was another example of that.

🌟 YOUNG PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

A special mention also goes to Bailey Sharma and Frank Briggs.

Bailey continues to show why he's one of the most promising young players in the community, finishing near the top of his group once again.

Frank Briggs also deserves recognition. At every tournament, it feels like someone from that younger group of friends steps up and makes a statement. We've seen Bailey do it. We've seen Mason do it. This time Frank was right there in the mix again.

The future of BBNZ looks very healthy when players this young are already competing with people two or three times their age.

One thing that's becoming clear this season is that the established names are still winning tournaments, but the next generation keeps getting closer.

Every event feels more competitive than the last, and nobody can afford to take a tournament lightly anymore.

Rumours suggest George has departed on a five month training pilgrimage to Mount Fuji, studying under the ancient Beyblade Senseis in preparation for his eventual return.

With George absent from competition, Ryan seized the opportunity and claimed the throne.

The question now is whether Ryan can defend Rank #1 long enough to survive George's return.

🔴 Shane Laurie successfully defends Rank #3 and continues strengthening his S-Class position with 515 EXP.

For the first time in Season 3, the throne has changed hands.

28 players entered and once again the competition was stacked.

We've reached a point in BBNZ where there are no easy tournaments anymore. Every event has multiple players capable of making Top Cut, and every round matters.

This time though, the story belonged to someone who has been chasing it for a very long time.

And now for the day's results.

🥇 1ST PLACE | Tom Penny

Tom Penny finally gets his gold.

Tom has been part of the Auckland Beyblade scene for years and has always been considered one of the strongest players around. He's had plenty of deep tournament runs, plenty of Top 8 appearances, and more than enough performances to prove he belongs among the best.

But somehow, first place always managed to stay just out of reach.

Not this time.

Tom fought his way through Top Cut and then put together a dominant performance in Grand Finals, defeating Ryan Smith 4 to 0 to claim his first ever BBNZ championship.

The crowd was genuinely happy to see it happen.

A long overdue result and one that nobody can argue wasn't earned.

He also takes home a BBNZ Championship Deck Box with his name engraved on the back.

Well deserved.

Another tournament, another podium finish for Ryan.

Ryan continues to be one of the most consistent players in BBNZ and once again found himself in Grand Finals.

While the result didn't go his way this time, making another finals appearance only adds to an already impressive list of achievements.

Most players would be happy with a Top Cut appearance.

Ryan keeps finding himself in championship matches.

Another strong performance from Vyrxzavier.

He finished 3rd in Swiss, made Top Cut, and converted that into a podium finish.

Consistency is becoming a real theme for some of these players, and Vyrxzavier continues to prove he can compete with anyone on the day.

A very solid tournament from him.

👑 SWISS KING | Cameron Short
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Five wins and one loss.

Top of Swiss.

What's particularly impressive is that Cameron hasn't been able to attend regularly lately.

With a newborn at home, Beyblade has understandably taken a back seat, and he's only been able to make it to the occasional tournament.

Yet despite the lack of practice and tournament reps compared to many of the regular attendees, he still topped the Swiss standings.

That speaks volumes about his skill level and experience as a player.

While he narrowly missed out on a podium finish after Top Cut, finishing first after six rounds of Swiss is still an achievement worth recognising.

Special mention to Mino Kim.

Mino finished 8th in Swiss and 7th overall, continuing a trend we've been seeing for months now.

Mino is part of a group of younger players that includes Bailey Sharma, Mason Wiles, Arthur Cameron, George Hosking, and others who regularly attend BBNZ tournaments.

What's interesting is that almost every tournament, one of them finds a way into the Top 8.

A few tournaments ago it was Bailey.

Then Mason.

Then Frank Briggs.

This time it was Mino.

They're all still very young, but they're improving quickly and proving they can compete with players who have years more experience than they do.

One of the things that makes BBNZ interesting right now is how many different players are capable of winning.

Every tournament feels different.

Different matchups.

Different Top Cuts.

Different champions.

This time, it was Tom Penny's turn.

And after years of coming close, nobody can say he didn't earn it.
