Every skein of hand-dyed yarn is a little different. Even skeins dyed together may have subtle changes in colour, tone or speckling and that individuality is part of their beauty.

Alternating between skeins allows small variations to mix and mingle, creating a softer blend.

Our new guide explains when to alternate, how often to change skeins and how to carry your yarn neatly as you work.

‘It’s MINT Champagne held with Tusk. The flowers are Blossom held with various scrap mohair. The greens are both from Prosper. It’s the Anemone Sweater by KNITTING FOR OLIVE but I turned it into a cardigan and made the motifs tulips instead as it was a gift for my Mom who loves tulips.’ WE LOVE SEEING YOUR PROJECTS! Thank you for sharing maddie_martinez 🌷🌷🌷

Col. Mustard, in the yarn studio, with the knitting needles.

Col. Mustard is a bold, warm yellow. Think mustard powder, kōwhai flowers and late-afternoon sunlight. It is bright and cheerful, with enough depth to keep it from feeling sharp or fluorescent.

Use it as a lively accent to lift a quieter palette, or let it take the lead in a joyful statement knit that refuses to be overlooked.

What will you make?

Some clues are hiding in plain sight. Others might be leading you up the garden path.

A flash of colour beneath a log. A strange little shape pushing through the forest floor. A combination you might never think to put together — until nature does it first.

Our Hidden World Advent is quietly fruiting behind the scenes and the studio is beginning to fill with colour.

Are these the fungi that inspired the yarn? Some are clues. Some are experiments. And there may be a red herring or two in the mix. We’re not telling just yet.

Inspired by the extraordinary fungi of Aotearoa, our 2026 Advent unfolds over 12 or 24 days, through gentle fades, unexpected colour and several rather special speckles.

If you’d like a Hidden World of your own, now is the time to order. Pre-orders are closing soon and numbers are limited.
