A lovely layered combination at the entrance to Awa Nursery today.🥰
Michelia Bubbles, a stunning evergreen flowering tree with Buxus Green Gem next and lastly Agapanthus Finn, a compact dwarf agapanthus with pure white flowers.
❄️Using white flowering plants in the garden makes other flowers appear brighter, while adding to dark or shady areas reflects back any light and makes the area appear brighter.
❄️ In flower now are also lovely Manukas and Helleborus Jacob with plenty of popular Camellia Early Pearly coming into flower and Standard Iceberg Roses which will give you a lovely show over Summer.

New Seasons Dwarf Fruit Trees are in!🌸🌳

Ever popular dwarf fruit trees, Peach Rose Chiffon, Peach Pixzee and Nectarine Garden Delight make a great addition to your edible garden.Ideal for our smaller gardens these days, they may be planted in the garden, planter boxes or in pots.
NZ's favouite Peach Golden Queen is available now too.Dont delay because these are always the first to go.
As the gorgeous dwarf fruit trees flowers aren't out yet I thought I would give honorable mention to Camellia Nicky Crisp.I have a beautiful hedge of these myself, stunning pink flowers with shades of yellow and very floriferous and its only 1.2m high🌸😍

Planting Groundcovers.

The Awa team have been busy this week since the weather was glorious, tidying and restocking the groundcover area.
Groundcovers are a useful addition to you garden as they are great for w**d suppression, help moisture retention, add lower tier interest and in some cases planting on slopes will help stabilize the banks.
The selection includes popular natives like Coprosma Poor Knights, Prostrata, Hawera and Taiko. Plus flowering Pratias, Vincas and even Star Jasmine, great for groundcover when you peg it down.(Useful tip: Weedmat pegs are great for this)

Lomandras are a tough evergreen grass like plant, a popular addition to NZ gardens due to their lush foliage and low maintenance. They thrive in full sun to part shade and may be planted in a variety of soils including coastal garden soils.
Some varieties like Lomandra Tanika, Nyalla and Lomandra Lime Tuff are excellent for sloping banks and erosion control.
Why not plant Lomandra Lime Tuff or Lomandra White sands in a pot or trough for added interest in the garden year round.🥰🌾

Autumn is the perfect time to plant some larger grade trees and shrubs. With temperatures cooling there is less stress or disruption to the plants when planting.

There are hedge lines in 30L pots such as Griselinas, Ficus tuffi, Trees like Magnolia Little Gem and Michelia Bubbles and some lovely Pittosporum Ball shaped, in 20L pots.
